I was afraid it was going to be on facebook, and the mention of "Occupier" made me think of #OWS, and then the fact that "#hashtags" don't work on facebook. /#CSB |

I knew the movement would devolve into petty crimes and vandalism. At least now the local municipalities are starting to get the laws passed to remove the squatters from the public areas. Living in Nashville, I really like going to the Capitol Building pavilion and eating my lunch before I Rollerblade. I haven't been able to enjoy these recent spring days there because of the stench and repulsive sight put off by the squatters. You know damn well that none of them give a shiat about politics or social movements. 90% of them are homeless and having the tent city gives them a consistent place to sleep, rather than battling each other for spots in the shelters and beneath the overpasses. I don't see why the State cannot use a flamethrower on the disgusting tents and piles of garbage. And I really don't see how holding the public areas hostage is going to advance any agenda but pissing off the real 99% who have careers and hobbies. |

Oh look. A billboard was defaced by graffiti and the advertising company went ahead and cleaned it up. The next few seconds will be given up to the fact that nobody gave a fark. |

Should be easy to catch the NPR crowd. Look for someone in a Saab with a tote bag. |
||
| brantgoose When I saw the words "tagging world" I imagined, well, actually, pretty much what the article is about. Never mind. The idea of NPR engaged in a gang war in the streets is a good one. I'd pay to see that. N - P - R COME OUT TO PLAAAAAAAY! Watch out for Betty White. She swings a mean bicycle chain for a lady her age. And the cast of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me! is really dangerous, especially when Paula Poundstone gets her rumble on. She scares a lot of people, mostly Republicans, but still. |

This is Ira Glass and this week we have a story about a sign. Now this isn't just any sign but a sign located on turf claimed by a local NPR station and the Occupy movement... |

Hi, I'm Rick Steves, and this week we'll be touring beautiful Battery Park in Manhattan, and observing the townies and locals interact with their government in a unique setting, replete with third-world sanitary conditions set against the backdrop of a gleaming skyline, and witnessing the occasional rape of local youth. Join me, won't you, as we head for the streets of New York... [cue theme] |

Understandable, from a grounded, real-world perspective. However, you must sample the work from an entire palette of subjects to fully appreciate the genius. I wish there were a compendium of spentmiles' posts to direct you to - it really is something to behold. I have him favorited as "Trollerific & Trolltastic". It is an art form. His fishing creel is perpetually full. |

It was ... beautiful. Ah yes. Hiking Through NK and waving at Kim who was riding a Limo through the towns at the time. All of the the happy smiling folk bring out tribute vegetables to their leader. Lots of mental wrangling in that thread trying to parse that anecdote. I personally prefer the Pocket Ninja approach though. ---------- Anyways as for the article, it is pretty dickish of a radio station to put up advertisements for their station adjacent to another (competing) station. I'm not saying they deserved to be vandalized... but I understand. |

But spentmiles still has that modicum of anonymity to many Farkers that lures them into his trap. That will eventually abate, and another will come into play, but for now, I enjoy following any thread that is graced by his trollic presence. /OK, enough of this prosaic crap. I need a drink. |

I'm not saying they deserved to be vandalized... but I understand. A lot of the billboards around town are bought in groups, so the ad company can sell billboards in the less affluent parts of town. I dont know if that was the case here, but KPCC might have had no idea they were buying a billboard by a competitor. |
