Maybe they couldn't get enough privacy in the women's restroom at the Walgreens (or they decided not to risk security at the Walgreens by bringing merchandise from Walgreens into the restroom).

Yeah, it seemed remarkable that you could walk into a Wal-Mart, mix up items from the shelves in the bathroom into meth, ditch the unpurchased chemicals and equipment, and walk out with meth, which doesn't exactly have a security tag associated with it. This does to some degree blow the whole "restrict purchase of ingredients" thing, except you'd have to show a license to be physically handed the pseudo ephedrine, not to purchase it.

But. not exactly the case here. She used Walgreens' pseudo. How very droll.

My company hosts a bunch of municipalities at their annual Vegas show. One year I was walking around the floor getting a feel for where everything was when I ran across the booth for Boaz, Alabama... all the way at the back of the South hall. Really, the ass-end of the LVCC. Guy running their booth told me, "You come around heah, you either lookin' for us or you lost."

/negligibly cool story bro

If this is today's meth lab in a Wal-Mart, where was yesterday's? Tomorrow's? Hell, any historical/future locations would be appreciated.

Good jorb, drug control agencies. Tweakers can cook up batches of meth in public restrooms but I can't get a few doses of proper Sudafed without hassling a pharmacist and passing a background check.

Why, yes, I do have a cold right now. Do I sound bitter?

This might be funny if it weren't for the fact that this method of producing meth is putting a strain on hospital burn units, actually forcing some to shut down.

From the article:
Davis said the pseudoephedrine was another store's brand and not a brand available at Walmart, so it is unclear why someone would bring the ingredients into the public restroom to make the batch of meth there.

Say what you want, but this was a smart decision. If they'd built the lab out in the open, there'd be spiders all over the store.

That's just smart business. Ideally, you want to be as close to your customers as possible. The Just In Time model allows you to cut down on inventory costs, improve your free cash flow, and gives you access to your customers in real time.

The very first thing I said way back years ago when I found out about this stupid, idiotic law (when I was trying to buy some pseudophed for a cold and they made me show ID and sign for it) was: This isn't going to work, the druggies will just find away around it and the ONLY people who will be inconvenienced is the rest of us who are sick or have allergies and need the medicine. The pharmacist just shrugged and said meth was a big problem and they needed to do something.

So, apparently, TPTB figure a theater show to make people feel like something is being done is preferable than actually trying to solve the problem.
