| Mugato I can't watch the video from here but I do know that they wouldn't let anyone in the theater after the movie started and as far as the audience knew, the "psycho" was the dumb biatch who stole the money and the shower scene freaked everyone the fark out. Those days of cinema are of course, gone. |

| Earguy My mom's obstetrician forbid her from watching the movie when she was pregnant with me. Now, you watch that film and just kinda shrug...um...okay. Cool cinematography, innovative story for its time, but nothing to make a woman miscarry. |

| MaudlinMutantMollusk Janet Leigh Naked /that is all |
||
| Earguy Another cool thing about the movie is the final scene where Norman Bates is in custody, and we hear the phrase "I'd never hurt a fly..." Hitchcock superimposed a skull over Anthony Perkins's face for only one frame, too fast for anyone to see in real time, but enough to give you the chills. |

Hmmm, a marketing gimmick? Good thing that wouldn't happen today. |
||
| Darth_Lukecash My father took my mom to see it. Worse thing was that when they left, a thick fog had rolled in and they had to walk a block to the car! |

Earguy: My mom's obstetrician forbid her from watching the movie when she was pregnant with me. Your mom's obstetrician was pregnant with you? |

I always wonder what it would have been like going into this movie knowing nothing about it. People must have freaked. /By the time I saw the full film, I had already seen clips from the major set pieces and knew the plot. |

Was that Dick Tufeld narrating? |

That reminds me. Back before VCRs, you could see some classic movies in book form. Link So I saw the book before I could see the movie. It's not a terrible way to see a story. I gasped when they got to the rocking chair. |

now if they can just make it a policy today not to have cellphones on ringer or talk through the movie (required), I might actually care about going to theaters |

I'm probably the only one here old enough to have seen this originally in a theater. I was 14 years old and it absolutely scared the crap out of me. Very creepy for it's time and helped make me a life long Hitchcock fan. |
