Yes, that's pretty much what I've found.

I dumped the DVD option and now realize they have almost nothing worth streaming. It's not entirely their fault, they were attacked, successfully, by the studios.

I have Amazon Prime and have found they also have nothing worth watching for "free". Anything good at Amazon has to be paid for.

But netflix is actually okay at aging TV shows.

I agree about the TV selection. Thanks to Netflix, I was able to make my way through all of TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Party Down, Mad Men, and Damages.

Didn't know Sons of Anarchy was on there, good to know. Guess I know what I'll be watching next.

Yes, thanks for clarifying that. I don't usually watch TV shows on Netflix so I forget that people do use it for that.

This is why dumping DVDs was a big deal, because all of the sudden, you feel cut off from anything but the 'dust bin'

I've done all of the Star Treks and now we're working on all of the Stargates. And damn, Daniel Jackson can travel through my wormhole any time, if you know what I mean. Well, ok, before he got all muscley and badass, anyway. Back to the point. The tv is worth watching on netflix if tv is your thing. . I've wasted hours of my life on the documentaries as well. And you know what? I'm willing to go out on a limb and say the movie selection on streaming isn't even bad if you're willing to try different stuff. Just take a chance. I've been figuring Amazon would buy them since they use tons of Amazon infrastructure and Amazon has streaming but it doesn't seem to be very good.

I use netflix streaming for tv shows. Good movies are there, but you really have to dig.

Just got through watching 4 seasons of Eureka, now I have to go back to watching one new episode a week, or wait a year for it to be on netflix.

I'm not sure I'd blame the CEO for idiots bidding the stock up to obscene levels. Even at the current level it's ridiculous. And I suspect a lot of the people who think it's a buy at 100 are the same ones who think AAPL is a bubble, even though the latter trades much lower relative to earnings and growth.

It's okay if you're a kid who likes Anime but I've long since exhausted their selection of movies I'm interested in seeing. They have a bunch of stuff on DVD that I'd be interested in watching but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay them extra for DVDs that are so scratched up they look like they've been stored in a gravel pit.

Meh, still works for me, but then again I'm not on the streaming plan. Just got Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Tucker & Dale vs. Evil in the mail, so I'm looking forward to that. I actually kind of enjoy it when I ignore my queue for a while and forget about what's up next. It's like a little surprise for myself when I open the envelope.

They also have a pretty decent Kids streaming. If you have a PS3 or Wii there is even a kids mode where they only have kids shows listed and the interface is easier for them to use. My little guy loves Kipper (though it is weird having Martin Clunes narrate a kids TV show and my mind always wanders to doc martin), Thomas the tank, curious george and sesame street, so its good for that.

Netflix has rapidly turned into "Rerun-flix". That's about all that's on there anymore. The "recently added" section of the instant stream page is almost all TV shows. There isn't crap on there anymore in terms of actual MOVIES...a lot of stuff you've never heard of, part 2 of something, etc.

Just about the only reason I keep it at this point is the kids movies/cartoons aren't bad and they're nice to have on hand (literally with the apps and whatnot). other than that, I probably would have dropped it a while ago.

yeah...you know you're in rough shape when you filter by "blockbusters" and "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (U.K.): Series 2" appears along with dozens of other TV shows. Here's the first page of "blockbusters" filtered by date (newest to oldest). The only 'modern' blockbuster I see is Iron Man 2.

I'm surrently a suscriber to Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Netflix and my cable package include Epix, who has a decent app. I'm currently trying a free HBO subscription and it looks like if I have to drop one, the most redundant would be Netflix.

They haven't aired season 3 of downton abbey yet. It broadcasts in September 2012 in the UK and January 2013 in the US.

On second thought, literally the only thing keeping me on Netflix is the AMC and FX TV shows.

If you like good stories, and not just the special effects blockbusters, you can find some pretty good movies out there. Takes some work to track them down though.

2 good Australian movies are "The Dish" and "The oyster farmer".

My kids don't even bother watching regular broadcast TV anymore. The Netflix for kids service has tons of stuff they've never seen before.

Netflix still has DVDs and I still know how to work Handbrake. I fail to see a problem.

Netflix doesn't seem to have any damn movies anymore that aren't crap. Their selection right now seems to resemble an early 1990s mom and pop video store. Also, there used to be some German-language movies but most of them seem to have disappeared and the only thing that's left is drama shiat playing in the Nazi era.
