How the heck does something like that even happen? |

I like the part where he says "fark off, fark off" like the truck rolling down the hill is a ugly chick hitting on him at the bar. |

It looks like they got the pickup out at the end though. At least the back rear wheel. So partial success? |

that SUV didn't appear to have a reinforce roll cage. |

That wouldn't've happened if it had posi-traction. Anyone who's been stuck in the mud in Alabama knows, you step on the gas, one tire spins, the other tire does nothing. |

Or even better, a selectable locker. Most people just don't realize that 4WD usually means 2WD; one in the front, one in the back. |

would have been nice if they had a winch or a come along, and something sturdy to attach to in that forest of trees |

The Torsen center diff on my car resolves that issue, though I won't be using it for the same purpose. |

Well. Good luck with that. |

Yikes. I can only guess that the SUV backed up at an angle when re-starting the pull and went up one of the sides too far and lost control. Ouch. That is a LONG tow strap too. About the longest you see around here are 30'. |

Negative. The Torsen provides the same functionality for your car that the transfer case does for those trucks (providing power to both front & rear differentials), though yours is a much fancier, roadworthy version. It still takes a locking front / rear diff to make both front / rear wheels turn (as WASN'T the case w/ the stuck Nissan). |

I suppose I will concede it isn't the center diff, but it has it as part of my quattro system. Vectoring quattro system Audi's new sport differential, debuted 'torque vectoring' to quattro generation V. The Audi sport differential allowed the dynamic allocation of torque across the rear axle of the debut vehicle: the B8 (2008) S4, and is now an optional addition to all quattro vehicles, which continue to use the 40:60 asymmetric Torsen (Type "C") centre differential. The sport differential replaces the normal open rear differential while the front axle still rely on an open differential with EDL. Link |

They probably coulda just filled in the ditch a little bit at the right rear tire and rocked it right out.... Sometimes a shovel is worth more than a tow strap. |

Link Not trying to argue but if you said Quattro then that would've been correct. But the Torsen is a single component (not exclusive) to that system, which by itself, only distributes power between the front & rear diffs of the Quattro system. It's all good though, I know what you're saying. |

Actually, I think he was saying "get farked", as in he was talking shiat to the bro-mobile rolling down the hill. /sorry bros, no bro antics for you today. Better call daddy and tell him to have the dealership order you a new car to trash. |

StrangeQ: What's with these stupid assholes chewing on the microphones? Hey assholes, your phone is not a piece of hard candy, quit farking chewing on it! ? I really don't know what to make of this statement. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you know those sounds are noise from the wind, handling the camera, or something tapping against the camera shell. If I've made the correct assumption, what the hell do you propose they do? |

I understand when it's just the wind blowing, but if you can't hold a camera without sitting there tapping on the microphone, then maybe videography isn't for you. |

I was thinking some of the same things. SUV =/= offroader. My old Jeep would have probably handled that (the hill, not the tow), but it had locking hubs. I also had a tow strap (much shorter -- where do you even buy one that long, and why?), but not a winch or come-along. I wanted 'em, but they cost. I did not attempt anything like this with it. It's good to have if you do, though, because either one can free a lone vehicle, while a tow strap alone requires another vehicle. (Ideally one that can actually tow you, without losing control and rolling over.) I'm going to actually suggest that *both* are ideal, but if you must choose, take the come-along. Yes, it's a hassle compared to a winch, but it's completely mechanical so it works without power. If you swamp your ride, you'll be glad you didn't bet on that not happening. |
