flipping and gradually losing energy, not bad hitting a wall and coming to a dead stop, very bad you may break something from flailing around in the cockpit, but the chances of dying are a lot less |
||
| Linux_Yes
they'll use that as a commercial to sell more Porsche's to idiots who like to drive fast/recklessly. the best part of waking up is a Porsche in your garage. |

As it has been stated, flipping around causes it to lose energy so it is better for a driver. One of the worst lookin wrecks that I was surprised not to see a fatality was Geoff Bodine's wreck at the first truck race at Daytona |

After that the various energy absorbing factors of the vehicle begin to rapidly dissipate forward momentum. The "body force" impact will probably never be published, but NASCAR and the University of Nebraska (where they do the maths) said it was "Well over" the previous record of 84 G's |

His throttle stuck open, and he plowed into a barrier with an earthen berm behind it. The car went from 108mph to zero in the space of 26 inches. He survived, though with broken legs, ribs and pelvis. It's estimated that he experienced 179.8g in the accident. |

For those looking to bash a Porsche driver or the car itself for crashing, please be advised that the crash in question was caused by a 'Vette. |

I saw that the flagman was waving a green flag at first before he waved the red flag to tell everyone to stop. Does Australia use a different colored flag system than the rest of the world or did he just grab the wrong flag and somehow didn't realize he'd done so? |

I saw this accident > Texas Mile 201mph wreck first hand from about a 1/4 mile away. I thought it was my friend SW in his identical UR Lambo, so I know the panic one feels when they think someone they know is in a horrible accident. This guy came away virtually unscathed thanks to a killer rollbar setup. Stay safe out there, folks. |

| Notabunny csb I rolled my bored and stroked 440 Dart (489cid and 605bhp at 6Krpm net dyon'd on pump gas, if I recall) on my 18th b-day. I didn't remember it was my birthday until the CHP guy looked at my driver's license and said, "Happy Birthday". Walked away with a scuffed up left elbow. 4-wheel non-power drums, strong arm steering, a/c?, crank windows, no shoulder belts, 1,200 watts, and 4 10-inch woofers ftw. Sweet Jeebus, I love a huge e-peen! /csb |

Cloudchaser Sakonige the Red Wolf: I saw that the flagman was waving a green flag at first before he waved the red flag to tell everyone to stop. Does Australia use a different colored flag system than the rest of the world or did he just grab the wrong flag and somehow didn't realize he'd done so? The answer is "It depends" Some race groups show the green flag at the first station past an accident to show that racing can resume, so if the track was clear past the accident, the green flag could be the correct one to show at that station. Other organizations SCCA/NASA would show no flag when it is clear to resume racing. You can see the flag stand at the inside of the turn where the accident happened waves the yellow immediately. The Red flag stops the race, and this is not something that would be decided at a flag station, it would come from race control, and all flag stations would show red at the same time. |

| Linoleum_Blownapart baka-san: 2wolves: Jeremy Clarkson still doesn't like the 911s. Which was why god smited his Ford GT He can't like Porsches. If he did, Top Gear would never have had a second season. As the bombastic one, he has to like the cars that cost more but don't perform as well (the British ones) and the ones that perform better, but only briefly before catching fire (the Italian ones). Every review would end the same way "It's nice, but the combination of impracticality for every day driving, cost, and the kit-car construction make me wonder why you wouldn't just have a 911." |

Used to love top gear.. bug his anti-america rhetoric gets old.. he calls us fat, go look at his picture from the beach, he looks 15 months pregnant.. . Please. TG bashes everyone. They are equal opportunity assholes. Some examples off the top of my head: When James May said that "France is a country you have to drive through to get to Italy, that is all it's for", and the French were "a bunch of treacherous, lamb-burning, work-shy peasants". Every time Jeremy reviews a German car the Sat Nav tries to send him to Warsaw. When they had the competition with the German car show, they arrived in Spitfires. When they had the competition with the Australian Top Gear, they brought them to the test in a paddy wagon. Mexico. Enough said. They ridicule their own Truck drivers (shift, shift, kill a prostitute, shift) own car companies (destroying Morris Minors, the Reliant Robin road test), leisure activities (caravaners), etc Jeremy bashes Americans, when for all practical purposes he is one. All the typical "American" stereotypes fit him perfectly, (Loud, fat, obnoxious, etc...) |
