Tell Me How My Blog Tastes: Pinkerton never went away; Lincoln brought him to DC back in 1861, and his position is what eventually morphed into the Secret Service. There's always been a market for that type of thing. I remember being shocked about 10 years ago to see a Pinkerton Security System sticker on a business. I think it says a lot about this country that they never died. |

Yeah, but you can't really blame business leaders for watching the public take shots at their political leaders and realizing that it can happen to them, too. And then when the Getty and Hearst kids got kidnapped. They are targets (no matter how richly they deserve to be). |

I used to work for Pinkerton. |

Pinkerton was bought out 10 years ago, but they still do executive protection and some contracted private investigation under the Pinkerton name. |

Banks cooperating on surveillance are like elk fending off wolves in Yellowstone National Park, he said. While other animals try in vain to sprint away alone, elk survive attacks by forming a ring together, he said. I've seen elk and they're beautiful, graceful creatures. You, sir, are no elk. |

| Mentat Starting in 2010, JPMorgan gave the New York City Police Foundation the largest donation in the group's history, the bank's website shows. The gift, valued at $4.6 million, included 1,000 patrol car laptops. "These officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe," Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon, 56, said in a statement on the website. So the banks are openly bribing the police now? Lovely. |

when the time comes I wonder what side the poor southern teatard conservatives are going to choose. The corporations and their government lap dog. Or the workers. Who are actually themselves. |
||
| Dr Dreidel Is anyone else freaked out that TFA was basically: "We're going to do whatever we can to suppress these lawful protests." Hiring security firms to comb through protestors' social media postings? Getting video of protestors? Working with the police (and Crikey. Any other entity doing this would - SHOULD - be run out of town on a rail. Bloomberg is cheering them on. |
||
| Mike_LowELL Mentat: So the banks are openly bribing the police now? Lovely. That is how the free market works. If you do not like banks bribing police departments, then start your own police department and make a bigger bribe. I am sick of liberals complaining that bribes are somehow unethical. I did not know gift-giving was unethical. No wonder liberals have started a war on Christmas. Lol. |

fta: Spokesmen for Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup Inc. (C), Morgan Stanley (MS), UBS AG (UBSN) and Credit Suisse Group AG (CSGN) wouldn't describe security measures for the protests. One likened commenting to telling al-Qaeda about the bank's continuity plans. Nice way to deftly insert the "protesters = terrorist" meme into the debate. Gud fnord Jerb! Pinkerton guy advises a show of strength? Presumably his guys, right? Qu'elle shock. Qu'elle surprize! |

Lol. works for politicians too. they cut all state/county employees benefits but the cops. because they need them to protect them with the mob comes for their heads |

The heads of security of most of the major banks there have formed a group called "sister banks," said Ian Mansfield, a London police counterterrorism security adviser. They do more than gather and share information with one another and the police, he said by e-mail. "Sometimes we will ask for a high- visibility deployment around premises basically as a 'show of strength,'" he wrote. Charming. |

| Tellingthem Ahhh I wish i could be more upset about this...and then i read that the protestors want to shut down the Golden Gate Bridge... "This plan has been developed with safety as a priority, keeping in mind that participants should be able to choose their own risk levels. From 7-10am there will be a rally at the bridge toll plaza, organized by the affected unions. There will also be non-violent civil disobedience at an undisclosed location. This location WILL result in the shutdown of the Golden Gate Bridge. If you would like to be involved in the civil disobedience please email occupythebridge And then I suddenly start losing interest and decided to just play some Weezer instead... \I really like the Pinkerton album |

Banks cooperating on surveillance are like elk fending off wolves in Yellowstone National Park, he said. While other animals try in vain to sprint away alone, elk survive attacks by forming a ring together, he said. Worst analogy evar. When I think of banks I would never think of anything as majestic as an elk. Although wolves do come to mind. No, if you want an analogy I'd think vampires and angry townsfolk waving pitchforks would be more like it. |

| theorellior It's gonna get worse before it gets better. The plutocrats won't give up their fistfuls of cash without bloodshed. Although we're still 20 years off from blood in the streets, since they've been good about message control so far. Later, when they start feeling their oats after a few years of success, they'll be more naked about their contempt for the rest of us. That's when things will get bad. |

It's like a steampunk social upheaval. Victorian era moral issues. Victorian era economic issues. Victorian era labor issues. Being contested through electronic social media, and electronic government eavesdropping. All dressed in clothes from old navy. /This world if nothing if not interesting //A modern collaboration between Dickens and Verne |

Just remember all of you who think you're part of the Republican 1%. You aren't and many of the big criminals during the Depression got their start kidnapping people just like you. They even killed a world hero's baby, the Lindbergh baby. They'll chew up the bottom of the Republican party like they were at a picnic. One of the loneliest feelings is waiting hours for the cops to show up after a break in. |

soup: [i.imgur.com image 220x215] Best Weezer album. Blue was good, Pinkerton was a whole other level. Everything after sucked. Pinkerton was more raw, but I just don't think the songs hold up as well. None of them really stick in my head when I'm done listening to it. The melodies and songs just aren't as memorable. The only song on Pinkerton that 'sticks' is Tired of Sex. Great song. I actually like most of Weezer's albums. Even the new stuff. Sure, there are some crap songs (Beverly Hills is rubbish - I skip it every single time). But there is some good stuff, too. I like Trainwrecks (from Hurley). |

Well, at least it's nice to know that the battle lines have been drawn clearly and publicly. Banks and lenders aren't your friends - they're your masters. They've spent the last 20+ years exploiting you for profit, and when that profit was endangered, the federal government became involved - first to shore up their failing ledgers with the money you wouldn't give them, and then to enforce their will when that money wasn't enough. You don't count any more. We have an election coming up, you see, and the folks in power can't have you disrupting what's already planned. You're in the way. |

I was so disappointed the first time I listed to the Green album. I was hoping they would stick with the raw, grungy feel of Pinkerton or maybe even evolve their sound even further. Instead they went right back to the poppy, catchy stuff that was in Blue. And that's OK, but it's just OK. Pinkerton took awhile to grow on me, but it's seriously one of my favorite albums of all time. I can listen to it, start to finish, pretty much anytime at all. |

No pointless protests that disrupts most of the regular peoples lives in that area bother me. Protesting is good. Trying to shut down a major bridge as a protest is bad. I'm all for closing the gap on income equality and class advancement. But i will not support these tactics that these protestors are using. Anyway back to Weezer... |
