hmmmm. I knew a lady who did the same thing, but I think it was she a payee for a program for Down's Syndrome people - not really sure, it was some time ago. She was on the lam for years, but I'm pretty sure I heard she was caught but no charges were brought. Anyway, people who steal from the vulnerable should be {enter punishment here}.

Funny thing about some people who work for those kind of organizations, non-profs ect. If they did it once, they most likely did it before, like in the case of the lady I'm talking about. After she ran away, we found out she took all kinds of money from an AIDS service org she previously worked for and got away with it. They didn't want the bad publicity and didn't go after her.


In recent news, this guy, one of our volunteers, someone I really liked, stole money from an emergency fund ($230) from a food bank I help run. Of course he's very sorry and all, but can't pay back the money. I'm the treasurer and all he had to do was ASK and I would have given him the damn money out of my own pocket. I think we should have called in the police, but I was overridden by cooler, kinder heads. Maybe it's for the best, I don't really know wtf is best to do in these cases. What I do know is things are getting worse, we have more people coming in every week and it's going to get much, much worse. SNAP benefits are being slashed in my state and we are not going to be able to cope. Please donate to your local food banks if you possibly can.
