||

Gah..i made it until she started sawing on whatever the hell that stringed instrument is..then i wanted to dig my eardrums out with a icepick. |
||
| RedVentrue
I liked it. |
||
| EatCritAndDie
Thanks for that. |
||
| discgolfguru That was cool. Also, they might want to find a larger practice space. Unless the kitchen just has awesome acoustics or something. |
||
| h2oincfs
please do "swamp", please do "swamp"... *watches vid* ok, not "swamp", but pretty cool. |
||
| 2wolves They're cookin' with gas! |

Bit'O'Gristle: Gah..i made it until she started sawing on whatever the hell that stringed instrument is..then i wanted to dig my eardrums out with a icepick. Yep. She looked and sounded completely lost once they got to the vocals. "Strangling the cat" as it were. |

Meh. Better in concept than execution. Would have preferred to see "I Zimbra" or "Heaven" done in that style. BTW, do you know that there's a film where Sean Penn plays a retired 50-something Emo rocker hunting a Nazi war criminal that uses the song title for the movie? And that David Byrne appears as himself in it? I'm not making this up. |

that cover did not sound very good... /huge talking heads fan |

Was intrigued until I saw it was Hipster Douche-bags covering Talking Heads on Chinese instruments. That's a no-brainer. |

Bit'O'Gristle: Gah..i made it until she started sawing on whatever the hell that stringed instrument is..then i wanted to dig my eardrums out with a icepick. It's an Urhu. Wife got me one on her trip to China with the family. She got her brother some awesome meat cleavers. Every time I see or hear that instrument I get pissed. /It looks nice hanging on the wall. |

A beard on a man used to mean he was a serial rapist. Now it just means he's a pussy. |

I love that song and genuinely appreciate those folks for trying something a little weird, but man, that did not sound good. |

| cannotsuggestaname Bit'O'Gristle: Gah..i made it until she started sawing on whatever the hell that stringed instrument is..then i wanted to dig my eardrums out with a icepick. There is an old asian guy that "plays" one of those at the Embarcadaro BART station. Every time I hear it I cringe, they just don't sound good no matter what. |

For some reason, to this untrained ear, those always sound like they're out of tune. Time to pop the Stop Making Sense DVD in again. |

Thanks subby that was fun. |

I didn't know the upright acoustic bass is a traditional Chinese instrument. The musicians look like typical nerdy college music students more than hipsters. Is it just me or does Sean Penn look kinda like Buffalo Bill from "Silence of the Lambs"? |

| afghanwhiggle
Dear Jerk: Link Crosseyed and Painless, now with enhanced afro-beat. It takes off at 1:06. Now THAT's how it's done. Nobody rubs on the funk like the Heads. That said, as much as I wanted to like it, subby's video was kinda weak. Hipster nonsense. |
||
| GreatGlavinsGhost
Do the Chinese not have a bass-like instrument? Very cool nonetheless. |
||
| Farty McPooPants
What would David Byrne think? I'll tell you later! |
||
| Third_Uncle_Eno
I actually liked it, anybody else thought the singer sounded a lot like Byrne? |
||
| Broktun
Stand up bass has been a part of ancient Chinese music for years. . .who knew. No bass, unless it is Earnest T. Bass. |
||
| Notabunny Talking Heads is my favorite band, and TMBTP is my favorite TH song. That version was thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks, subby, you've made my day. You've got a face with a view. 8) |

Nice find, subby. Perhaps you'd like Rolling in the Deep played on Guzheng Or maybe Sounds of Silence? |

It's not the sound - it's that (although I am decent at the ones I have) I don't have the time or energy to get really proficient, let alone learn from scratch another musical instrument. I guess it would be like if I got her, I don't know, a cookware set for our anniversary and then saying 'You can make some awesome things with this!'. |

most Chinese music sounds like a trash can full of cats being thrown down the basement stairs |
