| Nabb1 And yet, that 30 seconds of dead air was more informative than the hot air coming out of Chris Berman over at ESPN. |

Nabb1: And yet, that 30 seconds of dead air was more informative than the hot air coming out of Chris Berman over at ESPN. You could probably replace Berman with a robot that just reads stat feed while randomly interjecting "rumblin, bumblin, stumblin", "..could.. go.. all.. the.. way..", "back back back..." and "WHOOP!" and none would be the wiser. |

uh...how is this news, a day after the first round is over? |

As opposed to the following 3 hours of listening to Mike Mayock spit all over the microphone. I'd rather die than watch the NFL draft anyway, there were actually live sporting events occurring last night while these pseudo-experts were talking out of their asses. (Yeah, I know more people care about the NFL Draft than the NHL playoffs - saying that doesn't make you smart) |

It's almost like for 30 seconds God said, "Haven't these humans suffered enough" then thought, "Fark 'em." |

| bubbaprog Number of times ESPN mentioned Tim Tebow last night: 14 Number of times NFL Network did: 1 |

The NFL draft makes for more fun internet + TV watching than NHL does. /glad I didn't watch hockey, I'd have just been pissed at the results - I could've been guaranteed that a team that's never won in my lifetime would win the Stanley Cup with 8 teams left. That would've been amazing. |

(Yeah, I know more people care about the NFL Draft than the NHL playoffs - saying that doesn't make you smart) Exactly. I didn't know who the Pats picked until I looked this morning, too busy with the games last night. After seeing who they picked, I know one young man who probably won't be a victim of rookie hazing. |

Don't forget Mel Kiper thinking he knew the picks and Berman yelling at us It was fun watching them getting visibly irritated when they were proven totally wrong again and again. I wish Kiper and his perfectly coiffed hair would just go away. Smarmy know it all. |

| Marcus Aurelius I didn't really notice since I'm currently engaged in watching a coat of paint dry. |

I didn't realize he was Jon Jones' brother; that's one family that will do pretty well financially. |

After seeing who they picked, I know one young man who probably won't be a victim of rookie hazing. It's funny, through the miracle of technology, I was able to watch a live sporting event while at the same time being informed of what was going on at the NFL rookie red carpet show. And, bonus, I got to make it through the entire night without hearing Chris Berman or Mel Kiper for even a single second. |

bubbaprog: Number of times ESPN mentioned Tim Tebow last night: 14 Number of times NFL Network did: 1 Wasn't it NFL Network that did an entire segment about him and interviewed current players about him being included in the player poll of the 100 best NFL players? |

fatalvenom: You sound like that type of NFL fan who goes to a sports bar on Sundays wearing a faded replica Jersey that is two sizes too small. Meh, I wasn't even going to bother. I'm "butthurt" because I chose to watch an actual sporting event instead of the NFL's equivalent of the Golden Globe pre-show. I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I was to miss out on Jon Gruden saying tremendously insightful things like, "THIS guy here is a FOOTBALL player!" Riveting stuff. |

bart2puck: currently 5 out of 8 have never won a cup before. 4 from the west. Yeah, and one is Philly, who hasn't won in forever. If it had been Ottawa and Florida, Philly would've been the only team with a Cup, right? And they haven't won in almost 40 years? /plus the more Southern teams win, the funnier it is |

| czetie Since the purpose of ESPN is to produce exponentially large amounts of opinion from a mustard seed of facts in order to fill in time between the rare actual sporting events they carry, the NFL draft is actually the best thing that happens to them all year. They get to spend weeks beforehand speculating about the draft and conducting mock drafts and referring to their own staff as "experts" and "insiders". Then they get to spend draft day speculating about who is going next. Then they get to spend more days opinionating about who had the best draft, as if that can even be determined before a game has been played. And best of all, it's dirt cheap. |

Sorry for interjecting in your thread about dead air. Carry on. You came into this thread to say how much smarter you were to spend your time watching the NFL draft. That's a carbon copy of someone who loves to tell others they don't own a TV. I was going to post the Onion article regarding that but I'm sure you've seen it. |
||
| oh_please I forget who said it in the thread last night, but if you're a hardcore NFL fan, it's like opening Christmas presents. If you don't like it, sure, I get it, but don't think you're superior for watching a sport where just about every team makes the playoffs. |

I'd sort of like to like it but I'm 40-something and it's probably too late. Don't know the rules and I'm sure as shiat not gonna pay what it takes to go to a game. So I'll just sit here and be giddy the steelers picked up a 6'5" 300 pound interior o-lineman who's not supposed to suck. When's the season start? |

Odd, I like the NFL draft and hockey. |

The highlight of the coverage, to me, was when the panel leader turned to one of the other guys and asked a loaded question about one of the stories that had been repeated endlessly all week, he answered that it had been repeated ad nauseum - before promptly disappearing after the commercial break. |

Nabb1: And yet, that 30 seconds of dead air was more informative than the hot air coming out of Chris Berman over at ESPN. Berman is pretty hard to take, no doubt. But for me, the reason not to watch ESPN's draft coverage is the very same reason I can barely watch MNF...Gruden. I'd rather watch Shoe Pissing Joe Buck call a game he's clearly bored with than watch Gruden. And the worst part is the rest of ESPN and ESPN radio going on and on about how awesome Gruden is. |
