Good to know America isn't the only country with asshole politicians. |

Holy - that sounded just like a Monty Python clip. |

So the minister is using the Fark liberal approach to politics I see. |

I honestly thought that might've been an attempt at dry, sarcastic humor... Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part. |

I pictured the PM grasping his balls tightly from under the chair whist he was speaking. We have TSA for that. PM must be busy. |

| Rann Xerox Damn! It's Missouri GOP senate candidate Sarah Steelman minus tits. |

| The Bestest Boy, won't he feel silly when he finds out she ripped off her human mask and declared "DEATH TO ALL HUMANS!" in her cold, reptilian voice. |

1nsanilicious: So the minister is using the Fark liberal approach to politics I see. Perhaps you missed this gem from earlier this week? Youtube Steelman: "I'm not sure what that is because I'm not serving right now." Reporter: "You haven't really heard about it?" Steelman: "No, not really." For her part, Steelman said in a statement: "Of course I am for stopping violence against women." But she accused Senate Democrats of making the bill a "political football" and said she would would look at "an improved version" of the bill advanced by Republicans. So she didn't know anything about the bill, but still knew the (D) version was bad, and the (R) version would be better. |

Wow, I thought maybe you had to listen to the subtext to get it, but the headline is pretty much a direct quote.... As for what some people are saying, I wouldn't say that this is a d1ckhead or A-hole politician, as much as one who is a natural born follower. Not malicious, just has no initiative. This man should NOT be in public office if he can't have an independent thought, though. Of course if he IS going to be one of the little sheep of the flock, he would fit right in as a US Republican. |

The prime minister's comment was "Coooorrr lok at this Terry, crikey, stone the crows". I support this. You know who else was Austrialian??? |

Background to the Peter Slipper sexual harassment case: January 14: Applicant drove to Slipper's home to take him to meet some of his constituents. They stop at a local coffee shop. Slipper: "Have you ever c*** in a guy's a*** before". Ashby: "That's not the kind of question you ask people, Peter". Some weeks later --- Slipper: Twinks or Bears - what are you into? Those are appropriate terms however there is a right and wrong way to go about it. Have I ever Cuff a guy's Arms??? Sure that's what Cuff Links are for. As aide I can help with that. Is this the thread where Americans show their utter lack of awareness of another country's political landscape, all the while trying to absolve themselves of responsibility for their own utterly catastrophic clusterfark of issues? No? Oh, ok then. /Shorten's an idiot, and so are his staff for letting him go on a Murdoch-owned station a) looking so dishevelled, and b) not prepping him on Gillard's comments. //At least we have a viable third party. ///Not to mention numerous minor and micro parties. ////AND a proper mechanism to have these actually elected, instead of the first-past-the-post BS. |

His answer was terrible even though the interviewer seemed to be trying to get him to say something contradictory to the PM. Wrong answer: "I don't know what she said but I am sure she is right." Better answer: "As I understand that the PM has addressed this issue publicly I think it would be inappropriate for me to comment until I learn what she has said." |

1nsanilicious: So the minister is using the Fark liberal approach to politics I see. Because clearly conservatives opposing their own ideas (DREAM Act, Cap and Trade, Individual Mandate) as soon as Obama takes them up is a thought out approach. |

Shorten is just toeing the party line. This is common in Australian politics, and this is actually a very mild, albeit comical, example of it from a party who at least permit a little bit of internal disunity. Case in point: the opposing political party refuses to allow its members to have a conscience vote on gay marriage, even though a majority of their constituents and a portion of their MPs support it. The current leader is a hardline Catholic, and therefore the entire party must take the stance of a hardline Catholic. This is not an exaggeration. What's also missing in this, contextually, is that Shorten's party recently engaged in a very bitter leadership dispute with Kevin Rudd and showing a united front is very high in their priority lists right now. Most Australians would watch this video and get this (which is probably why nobody really batted an eyelid over it here.) Gillard's judgement is under serious criticism and so no MP with any political sense is going to risk going against her. /vote Green |
