Subby was just hanging out at the Chelsea Piers in NYC this morning and what did he see? A 747 coming out of the sky with a Space Shuttle hitching a ride. Video for your viewing pleasure

They stopped a few times at Dyess when coming from Edwards back to the Cape. Video just doesn't do it justice. Thanks for sharing!

I'm confused, that video looks like it came from Brooklyn, not Chelsea Piers.

I thought the shuttle already was stationed in DC forever. Where's this one going?

I was at Riverbank State Park in West Harlem, we had three flybys and she flew right over our heads going into JFK.

Apparently that was temporary. According to this article, the space shuttle Enterprise will be housed at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on Manhattan's west side.

Thanks Ms. Mapes.

We were originally going to shoot from the top of my building in midtown (had a deal with building management through our facilities manager to get on the roof with three other photo/shuttle buffs) but it was too windy so they told us they couldn't do at the last moment. We hopped in a cab and made it over to the piers.

Discovery took Enterprise's place at the Smithsonian and the Enterprise came to NYC.

That's too bad. Your video was impressive, but shooting it from a tall building would have been ever moreso. However, I can understand their concerns about being on top of a tall building if it's really windy.

But again, thanks for the great video.

Love the commentary from the barking dog that many of these people watching the Shuttle fly by would say the Space Program was a relic of the Cold War and insist the money would have been better spent on entitlement programs, or how these New Yorkers don't recognize that the Bankster generation represents two or more generations of students stolen away from STEM and into finance, or that his biatch's ass smells so great even better than his balls.

Very subtle in the first half of the video, but the chase aircraft is visible a few thousand feet to the port side of the SCA. Great video, AlwaysRightBoy!

You had a well thought out position for three, we were lucky to get two having thought of the piers at the last moment.

/Great shots

Not inaccurate because Spock was there and gave a perfectly appropriate speech. Leonard Nimoy: the only actor in the first and last Star Trek filmed to date, and the only Star Trek actor present at the Space Shuttle Enterprise's rollout and final landing.

I'm very sad that these amazing feats of engineering had to be retired. A nighttime shuttle launch is still the most amazing thing I've seen in person. I can still get choked up trying to describe it to people.

Say what you like, but as time rolls on, fewer and fewer people will be able to say honestly, "I saw the Space Shuttle in flight." You've seen something you'll get to tell your grandchildren about.

I'm seething with jealousy, if it makes you feel better.

That tallest building looks like the Freedom Tower, the WTC replacement. (Unless I'm reading the angle wrong.)
