And somehow, Community remains...

/terrible writing and zero talent is no way, etc, etc.
//just replace it with another useless reality show for 1/10th the cost.

browntimmy: On the subject of NBC sitcoms. 30 Rock's live show had some really great gut-busting laughs, especially the John Hamm and Tracy Morgan sketch.

BANJO!

"Next week, an original episode of hidden-camera series Betty White's Off Their Rockers will air in BFF's Wednesday 8:30 p.m. slot."

I think we gained, actually.

Perhaps....

I saw the first episode of that Betty White show. It was hilarious.

I'm saddened. I like the show. Mostly because one of the leads was in a sleeper that grabbed me ("She's Out of My League"), but if I didn't laugh a lot I chuckled enough.

/Give it more of a chance.

Nah. It's like candid camera. Only with old people. And less funny.

That would've gotten bites sooner for sure, but this thread may be too slow now. Anyway, 6/10

The problem is, Community threads are all "too slow" that I'll literally take anything I can get.

There's so much viewer fatigue that the odds of any troll attempt being noticed is roughly equal to the # of people who actually watch the show. Its like making fun of people who still listen to 8-tracks. There's no real sport in insulting them...they are their own parody.

Is your life really so sad that you have nothing better to do than troll people on their favorite tv show on a Saturday night?

Really? White is one of our comedic natural treasures, but this seems...beneath her based solely on the ads. I'll check it out anyway, crow dish on hand if necessary.

It didn't used to be, but it's heading in that direction.

Thursday's episode was a series of L&O references devoid of jokes, and one audience pandering moment of Omar saying a man has to have a code.

Better Off Ted's cancellation reopened all of the old wounds from Arrested Development's cancellation. How is it that Portia DeRossi doesn't have her own sitcom, even with all of Ellen's clout, yet Whitney is the show that refuses to die?

Your_Huckleberry: Wait, so is Bent cancelled? That wasn't half bad...and the sister was hot.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was just a "fill-in" show, Some networks order episodes for a show, then change their minds after 6 or 7 episodes have been filmed. Networks use them to fill in holes on the TV schedule, usually on Saturday night, or when a show goes into repeats like L&O:SVU.

Seinfeld started that way - the pilot episode aired on 7/5/89, and it didn't get picked up for 4 more episodes until a year later.

It had promise as a show. I liked the leads. They were Groundlings, and played off of each other.

Seriously, it was far better than Whitney.

Whitney also produces that Two Broke Girls show, so I think the network signed a package deal for both the shows.

The Beek is hilarious. I get the feeling he is not acting, just does a few lines in his trailer before the shoot.

I thought it was pretty funny how Starburns was killed. Otherwise I didn't think it was as funny as it could've been. Though I want the show to succeed as its best episodes are brilliant, it's a little hard to be excited over a show that's rather hit or miss in quality.

Two Broke Girls = CBS
Whitney = NBC

Conspiracy?

Or could it?

That looks like a rehash of that old Tom Hanks show Bosom Buddies.

Yes, Tom Hanks was in a television show in which he cross-dressed.

Yes, I remember that show. Wasn't funny then and isn't funny now.

I really think he's on to something with the father-daughter body swap movie.

"don't trust the B in apartment 23" is amazingly good. I had low hopes for it, but it is very politically incorrect, strange, and quirky. The only sitcom worth watching on ABC. That, and any episode with Weird Ashley on The Middle. But I digress.

These "other" NBC sitcoms like Whitney, BFF, Bent, etc are just terrible. NBC's midseason replacement sitcoms from yesteryear(AUSA, etc) were actually better, but weren't meant to last. Really, did we need to know about Whitney on EVERY commercial break?

The live episode of 30 Rock for some reason was really good. It was like a super-fast SNL episode.

I'm sad Breaking In got canceled. It was good.

TheManofPA: FeedTheCollapse: TheManofPA: If it doesn't have James Van Der Beek, it isn't worth watching.

That "Don't Trust the B..." show looks more painful than Whitney.

It actually delivers. Full frontal (sadly blurred) female nudity in episode one. Hot lesbian ass-slapping in the last episode. Best I can describe is that the farkers who liked Happy Endings will be the ones who would like it. And of course James Van Der Beek delivers just like how he welcomes you to fark.

Heh. I just read that the Parent's Television Council is asking people to boycott the show's advertisers. That's enough of a reason for me to watch right there.

They killed Bent before it even aired. They ran 2 episodes a week for 3 weeks and then killed it. I was really enjoying that show.

Why bother taking out ads on buses and cabs in NYC if you have no intention of running the show?

If Networks had this mentality in the past, Seinfeld would've been gone in 2 weeks. That show had horrible ratings until the 2nd season.

And in other news, ad prices for Don't Trust have now gone up 50%.

I had a hard time suspending disbelief with Bent. Even in the TV universe, I can't imagine anybody not immediately firing a contractor with so few boundaries.
