Never heard of it.....nor did most of America it seems.

This is one of those rare decisions by execs that make sense when programming television. It was only second to Whitney in how awful it was.

How can a show with a handful of young, attractive, smart-assy urban people, filled with sexual innuendo and the correct number of ethnicities, fail? HOW?

Gosh! Networks put up shows like LA Complex and Bent without any promotion besides a half page ad in Entertainment Weekly, and they flop anyway? How could this be?

NBC can do whatever they want to whatever shows they have, just as long as I can get six seasons and a movie out of Community.

I mean, seriously. Who else discusses Whitney in terms other than "Sweet merciful crepes on a waffle, Whitney sucks on all conceivable levels"?

I have enjoyed individual episodes of Whitney but the few episodes of Chelsea's show that I have seen have all inspired me to change the channel to insipid sitcoms on other networks. And I like drunken sluts.

Not officially. But saying that both shows are "On the Bubble" would be overly generous.

They should cancel 2 broke girls.

This and 'Bent' were actually pretty okay, but they got absolutely zero advertising push from the network.

I found about Bent when Jeffery Tambor went on the Today Show two days before the show aired, and BFF got an occasional ad once a night that made it look to be on the same level as the Chelsea Handler show and Whitney. I don't know why they keep greenlighting decent shows and letting them die like this.

If it doesn't have James Van Der Beek, it isn't worth watching.

Yeah, I like the way the character who over-indulged in her falling-apart-ness blew the chair up without a pump. It was nice to see actual female friendship, not the catty thing that passes for it on TV. It was nice to see male characters who are right to be exasperated, and it was nice to see the female characters acknowledged it and try to do something about it.

I am not trying to say the show was perfect, but I think getting to know those people would be interesting.

I liked the characters and the general setup of two friends in their 30's but moving your best friend in with you when you have a live in boyfriend is ridiculous.

Lennon Parham's character was the cool/hot/nerdy girl and was very likeable. Jessica St. Clair's character was the total helpless blond in the Balki crap story line. Rework her as a whole person and make the show more ensemble and less blond helplessness rewarded, ...of course promote it too.

I liked Traffic Light and still like Happy Endings, Cougar Town etc., but each has similar issues, but at least they have a better developed ensemble to rely on.

St. Clair's character could easily be more Dee from Always Sunny in Philadelphia or the same character but with a job and a different address even if just across the street.

The fate of comedies without a crappy laugh track is on the bubble. Please support comedies designed in a post-Arrested Development 21 century, and not warmed over Three's Company, Perfect Strangers and Whitney/Chelsea.

I'd also prefer a frontal lobotomy to more reality shows/hidden camera shows/cop-detective shows etc.

I'd guess the crap ones are easier to produce/create, or bring in more money.

The 'good' ones are just shots across the bow, if they stick and get an insane cult following (ala Firefly) the network wins. If they flail around and fail, the network still wins because it can both claim it's trying for artistic integrity, and failing because 'viewers clearly don't want that', and they free up that slot to try again next season. Or they just fill the slot with random crap and sell ads anyway.

Agreed. It's a fairly thin premise, but just like with Happy Endings there's something about it that's working. Plus, James Van Der Beek is hilarious.

On the subject of NBC sitcoms. 30 Rock's live show had some really great gut-busting laughs, especially the John Hamm and Tracy Morgan sketch.

eh, I didn't really like that episode. it felt like a series of sketches rather than an unified show. The past season has been really hit or miss.

I liked Best Friends Forever. I read that they scripted a lot of the pilot by just recording themselves acting everything out as a natural conversation and then writing it all down and editing out the less funny bits, it was why they sounded more like people who talk to each other not like characters in a TV show.
Nice characters who're mostly just chilling out and trying to get through things.
NBC just hates shows that start with the letter B this year, hopefully they aren't going in Alphabetical order because that means Community is next and Whitney will last for another 21 years.

I'd never heard of it until Phil & Willie were on with Conan. If you watch the show thinking it's a reality show then you'll just think it's absurd, but if you watch it like it's a mock documentary then it's absurdly great. I really believe that these guys are students of Christopher Guest.

Meanwhile, Super Best Friends Forever is among the most-fun new shows on Cartoon Network -- even though its 'episodes' are only one minute long, each (it airs as interstitials between full-length cartoon series during the DC Nation weekend block). The show is designed and presided-over by Lauren Faust (of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls fame).

There's only been three episodes, so far .. focusing on Wonder Girl, Batgirl and Supergirl, respectively. Each episode makes the most of its brief airtime .. but definitely leaves the viewer wanting more..!

SBFFs could break-out into its own full-length show, eventually. There are actually quite a few successful TV series that got their start as 'micro-toons': The Simpsons, Beavis & Butt-head and Star Wars: The Clone Wars come to mind. With that said, Cartoon Network has made some 'bone-headed' decisions during the past few years (adding several 'live-action' shows, and unceremoniously cancelling one of its most-promising action cartoons: Genndy Tartakovsky's Sym-Bionic Titan) .. so, who knows.

The pilot was terrible.

Hmmm...it was kind of the opposite for me. I thought it started out fantastic (nice touch having Abed and Troy dressed like Briscoe and Logan) but for me, it faded toward the end.

Wait, so is Bent cancelled? That wasn't half bad...and the sister was hot.

Maybe it's time the networks do what they're really good at doing. Importing a British comedy and completely destroying all humor in their American rip-off.
