The sense of entitlement from kids these days is astounding. If he wants a sat nav he should get a job and pay for it himself!

Pud: 2 Yr. olds know what sat nav is?

Probably not how it works, but if he's heard the parents talk about how they use it to find their way around, yeah. 2 year olds are excellent parrots.

He's probably heard it giving directions to his parents as they drive around. I doubt he knows much about how it works other than that it tells you where you want to go.

At about 2 years old, my nephew starting calling the nav system "that lady". As in "that lady that tells us where to turn".

CSB:

When I was about four or so, my dad told me to go to the store and buy smokes. I didn't know any better, so I hopped in my battery powered 4x4 and drove off- at something like 4 mph. I managed to get about a mile down the road before I was finally found- and promptly punished, because at 4 I was supposed to know that he was kidding.

Also, he's tooling around in nothing but socks. I do that shiat all the time.

My daughter is only a year and a half but is so tall she dwarfs kids twice her age and is nearly as tall a some kids three times that. It's crazy.

Rubbish! I hope the toddler checked the air pressure in his tyres before setting out, and that he was wearing hi-viz colours.

I'm not sure what annoys me more: British accents or British terminology/spelling.

Young Noah attempted to cycle on his toy tricycle

"Two-year-old Noah Joel packed his favourite sweets in his rucksack and pedalled his toy bike across Hameln, Germany"

Several things:

1 - that is not a two year old. My friend has a 3 and a half year old who is the biggest 3 year old you've ever seen and I doubt that my friend's child is as big as this kid

2 - that is not a tricycle, it only has 2 wheels

3 - that is a balance bike, so he didn't "pedal" it anywhere (uber pedant...missing an umlaut)

4 - his parents have fitted the handlebars on backwards as far as I can tell

Most likely. I doubt they inferred the type of transportation from the picture, or else they would have had the age right too.

CSB - I did the exact same thing when I was three. I have no memory of the event, but according to my parents, I scaled the locked yard gate by parking my bike in front of it and went to visit my grandmother across town. The police found me several hours later, on the wrong end of town from Nana's, having made it across a six lane main street by myself somehow. Supposedly, I wouldn't go with the police unless they ran the siren.

My father was so angry when they brought me home, he had to go take a walk in order to not kill me.

These kinds of pre-bikes teach kids how to ride real bicycles much better than using training wheels.
A bicycle turns differently when it's allowed to lean. Kids with training wheels aren't learning anything about how a real bicycle corners.

If it was a problem, (IF) it would be with the fork, not the handle bars. I thought it looked funny too, but I think it's because the fork is a straight blade, ie no rake.
I think it's ok.

I still don't see the part where it says he's angry and stormed off. The kid wanted to see his gram, so he went ahead and did just that. With mixed results, of course.

FFS - what does it matter whether the handlebars are on backwards or the forks are on backwards. It equates to the same thing. I simply meant that the handlebars and front wheel/forks were not both pointing in the same direction.

I.e. you can turn the handlebars round a half turn and they would be correctly aligned with the forks (albeit everything would now be pointing backwards), or you can turn the forks round a half turn and everything would then be pointing forwards.

/OK, I admit that my first statement wasn't as clear as it could have been, I just meant that the handlebars and forks weren't pointing the same way

No. The difference between 4 and 6 is nothing compared to the difference between 2 and 3. Your growth slows down and your maturity increases slow down as you age. Those first four years are astonishing.

The press release from the Holzminden police has him as two years old. That likely means he's actually approaching his third birthday, but hasn't quite reached it yet.

They're "balance bikes". The idea is that kids learn to balance while they push themselves along with their feet, without having to worry about pedalling or pedals getting in the way. It is supposed to dramatically decrease the amount of time children have to ride pedal bikes with stabilisers (aka trainer wheels).

I've seen some really young kids flying around on balance bikes who are sure to go straight onto two wheel pedal bikes.
