| Rev. Skarekroe I have a hunch this attempt at a protest will flop big time. |
||
| LineNoise Its pretty much a non event in the city today. They have a drum circle going at bryant park and were walking around in midtown in maybe a group of 100 chanting for a bit. Yea, way to shut the city down guys. Even them trying to send fake anthrax to a bunch of places yesterday didn't get a response. |

Looks like it already is. I saw pictures of some gathering in NYC that looked like it had tens of people. |

This is still going on? |

Support the 99% by making their commute more hellish! |

These losers need to go home, or better yet, go get a job. Bunch of useful idiots. |

But what color is the threat level? Yellow? Orange? Good God man, we have to know! |

| bdub77 Occupy as a movement is really annoying to me. I tend to agree with their views about consolidation of power, but they have no party, no motivation to form a party, no real solutions to fix problems other than bringing awareness to the obvious fact that we live in a plutocracy. No sh*t, Sherlock. And then you go into the middle of a city center, where with few exceptions most of the people there agree with you, and protest in front of a tourist destination where no one from "Wall Street" really works anymore. If you want to piss people off and really start something, go Occupy a Piggly Wiggly in the middle of a farking rural town in South Carolina. It's about as worthless as Occupying Wall Street, and you'll probably get your head shot off, but good luck! Frankly I think peaceful protest has its limits. The reason it worked in the Civil Rights movement was because people were quite literally told they couldn't be there because of the segregation laws that said 'you can't be here'. Those don't really exist anymore. I will say I am strongly against the creation of 'free speech zones' by governments. I'm sorry, it's called the right to assemble, assholes. |

They should have coordinated with the 1 WTC site and did this yesterday. They had a lot of camera coverage that could've helped them. |

Rule of thumb: Most of the folks deriding protest movements these days are cryptofascist authoritarian chitbirds. Never mind that the banksters are riding our nation off a cliff, eh? You have a job and a home, so you're set. Everyone else can rot. Zero sum idjits who know not what they do. Greed is in ascension in this country. I only wish the protest movements were what ails us. You'd make better Russians than you do Americans. |

EWreckedSean: But it doesn't say anywhere, any time on any piece of public property you chose. So, if the government is given the discretion on when and where you can exercise this right, how can we call it a "right" or "free?" That's pretty much the opposite of free speech. (yes, I feel the same way about guns) |

OCCUPY *not valid Nov 1 - April 30 Fairbanks, Alaska, Occupy group stays in park all winter. It was the coldest winter since the 70s, btw, with one lovely 5-week stretch where it didn't get warmer than -35 f. I'm afraid you're thinking of the Teabaggers, tardmitter. Their Hoverround batteries tend to freeze up below 10 degrees or so. AND there are seldom charging stations at rallies... |

(yes, I feel the same way about guns) They aren't denying the right to say what you want, they are merely limiting you access to do it to certain places and time on government owned land. The courts have said as long as they do it in a content neutral way it is perfectly acceptable. e.g. if a park closes at 10pm, you're not allowed to have a rally at 3am in it is seen as a reasonable denial by the courts. |

Remember when people last year said the protest at Zucotti would still be going on this year? Good times. |
||
| NationalHero
The voices of the people have risen to a soft murmur. Guy Fawkes masks, handmade signs on colored oaktag, envelopes filled with fake anthrax, drums and bullhorns are doing absolutely zero besides freshening the nostalgia of the older protestors attending and reaffirming the idealistic principles of (mostly)white children from the suburbs. Not too impressive Occupyers. When the overwhelming reaction to your efforts is a mix of yawns and disinterest you probably ought to find more effective ways to spread your message. Announcing that all the people who are largely afraid of losing their job ought to sit out the day is not only unrealistic, but will result in potentially sypathetic folks recoiling from your declarations. -This was written by someone deeply in the 99%, currently sitting at the desk at work. I find myself believing in the causes themselves much more than believing in the people championing them. Much like the environmental terrorists who will burn down the houses in a neighborhood out of protest for animal rights, I feel the underlying principles behind OWS will be drowned out by the Occupyers themselves. |

The white powder envelopes were a dick move. |

How the hell can these people afford to protest all the time and not work? Especially while living in NYC? Something tells me that they're all actually a bunch of liberal-hippie-live-off-my-trust-fund types. Today's protest: "Hey! Let's all try to remain in the 99% by NOT working! You want to work? Too bad! We're blocking your commute!" |

I love that it gives you a sense of pride to argue that the occupy idiots are "tougher" than the tea party idiots. How politically derpy can you get? By the way, I work literally 30 feet from the Federal Reserve building in San Francisco, and I can assure you that the "cold" weather drove those idiots away. But keep on trucking, sonny. Your love affair with the occupy morons provides endless entertainment. |

you should see how these brain dead idiots are trying to glom on to the NATO protests coming to Chicago in a few weeks. They will claim credit for nothing to do with them. i have such a hate for them, and im a dirty liberal. I follow them on facebook just to mock them. |

Ya know, I empathize with the Occupiers - I feel their grievances have merit. I don't, however, agree with their tactics and their entitled attitudes. The "1%" should be held accountable, but don't you dare suggest the Occupiers should be held accountable for their own actions. Camping in parks? That's our right because we don't agree with that law that says we can't. Drug use and overdoses at our events? Well only a few of us, that's not our fault. Vandalism and destruction of public AND private property during our marches? Well it's society's fault for not providing everyone with mental health support. |

well they did vandalize some cars and buildings yesterday in SF (I don't think those cars were owned by 1%ers). glad to see their attempts to blow up that bridge failed. |
