It's 1am. Do you know where your child is? If you said "in the hospital with a gunshot wound after breaking into the school", come and get him

I'd like to know the race of the kid in question. Or at least a name. I already know when the name is either Dave or Leroy.

I have money riding on this.

Oh yeah, don't wanna get shot? STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE!

The officer was apparently responding to an alarm at a portable building on the campus when he spotted the teen coming out of the building's front door. The teen was clutching a backpack. The officer, a 6-year-veteran with Pasadena ISD, told the teen to stop, but the boy refused. In fear of his safety, Lewis said, the officer fired one shot, hitting the teen.

In fear of his safety? Wow. At least the guy could have lied and said the kid pointed something at him.

In before the second-guessing starts about whether the shooter was actually "in fear of his safety."

If the backpack was full of rocks, he could have swung it at the officer and done some serious damage. So, potentially lethal weapon, that.

Back in my day, if we got caught breaking in somewhere, dad would shoot us himself, if the cops didn't. 'It would toughen us up' dad would say with this evil gleam in his eye as he got the .357. "Dad", I asked, "Can you at least use the .380?". 'No, son.' He would say. 'The .380 is what we use on your little sister. You want to break into school like a man, you're gonna get shot with a man's gun. You don't have a pussy, do you son? They why would I shoot you with a pussy gun?'

Then dad would double tap me to the chest. He wouldn't take me to the local doctor until I had stopped my baby-like sniveling.

I didn't care for it much at the time, but now I am glad dad would toughen us up for the real world. It prepaired us for our lives as adults. Well not my sister. She died.

"The officer was not injured, though he is distraught about the incident."

Well, thank goodness! I mean, imagine the horrible injury he could have suffered pulling the trigger.

I woke up to knocking on my window at 4am. It was a high school buddy of mine with a broken ankle and covered in mud and twigs. He then told me this story..

they wanted to break into the school and put flyers in everyones locker protesting some rules changes that were taking place. they got on the roof and opened one hatch that set off a silent alarm. From the roof he could see the parade of police cars flying down the road. they all jumped from the roof and ran, he hurt his ankle landing and couldn't move as fast he said he laid down in the grass while police had flashlights all over the area. 2 of the police were like 30 feet from him just standing there looking with flashlights. he said he laid there for hours in pain then got up and limped 2 miles to my house. the incident was in the paper the next day and they never got caught.

You'd have to get me to believe the kid was moving toward him, and I don't. Even then, this farking puss can't restrain someone? Why is he an officer?

He heard about a case full of guns.

He just wanted to see what was in the case,
if it was like the kid said..... lurk all you want.

The police and the Klan and the mafia, they're all in the police state. They're out for me, and soon they're going to be out to get you, so you better get going if you know it's good for you and take your stand.

What's wrong with instilling in this future-taxpayer-sinkhole that committing felonies just might get you shot?

Nobody in our society has any misconceptions about B&E being a crime. This kid was deliberately committing a crime, got caught, and got shot. Yeah, I'd prefer that he be led away in cuffs; this wasn't a home invasion and according to the cop he didn't even menace the officer.

But he was caught in the act and didn't heed police commands. Bad idea. Sorry, kid, you done f*cked up and even if the officer was too quick on the draw his mountain of paperwork isn't going to make your sucking chest wound suck any less.

THIS

Also ... "was reportedly wounded in the upper chest"

Good shooting on the officer's part. Nice center-of-mass hit.

The line, "It's X p.m., do you know where your children are?", started somewhere a long time ago. It was perhaps a sign-off message when local TV stations used to go off the air. Anybody know where or when?

I found this, from Wiki, so grain of salt and all.

I think it spread, and was a common PSA in the 80's.

Yes, it was. No clue if it started at the station listed in the Wiki article but it was a quick TV PSA that said "It's 10pm, do you know where your children are?" I only remember it on the East coast and not in the Midwest but who knows.
