Well he would've been 7-0 if he wasn't suffering from that work-related injury!

yeah, not a very thorough article.

"He stands accused of competing while trying to collect workers' compensation..."

while trying to collect?

so did he receive any benefits or not? Or did he just repeatedly submit false claims that were never paid out?

Yeah, but I didn't get the cash. It had to look like an accident.

I read a few other bits on this and nobody is specifying what the injury was but to get beefed up to a fraud charge it had to be more than a pysch/emotional claim. He may filed the claim but it may have been pending a compensability hearing; which as backward as California can be could take a long while. In their eyes it's possible they believe he was trying to get his fighting/training injuries taken care by WC.

It also doesn't help that California is desperate for money wherever they can get it with their WC bureau. On top of the seven surcharges they have at their disposal and some unsavory shake downs trying to keep any remaining monies from death claims that pay out below the statutory amount, they're far from ou favorite.

And the fighting was therapeutic. I can see that.
