A guy walks into a bar and tells the bartender he's got some real problems and orders 4 shots of Crown. As he picks up the third the bartender asks if he's okay and the man replies that you'd drink this fast if you had what he had. Th bartender asks what he had and the man replies "Oh, about 2.00", downs the fourth and he leaves. /or something like that |

There's no mug shots with the article, but anyone who's ever been to Destin can probably put together a farly accurate one in his or her own mind. |

| theflatline Wow, Cash's is still open, I remembering partying harty there in the 1980s on spring break. Back when we still said party harty and were the orginal collar poppers. |

| The_Sponge Bruxellensis: Hey, she's drinking for two now. CSB: Back when I worked at a winery, I had to take alcohol server training. In a nutshell, we were told we were supposed to cut off anyone who might be a little tipsy....even if he/she had a designated driver or had a bus or limo waiting outside. However, if a pregnant woman wanted a drink, we were not supposed to say no. WTF?! |

"I need five double bourbons, quick!" "Okay, sir. Are we celebrating tonight?" "Well, I just had my first blow job!!" "Excellent, sir, have a double on me!" "No, thanks, if five don't take the taste away, six won't" |

Denying a pregnant woman a drink opens the restaurant up to a potential discrimination lawsuit. Cheaper to let the broad get fetal alcohol syndrome than to pay her a few hundred grand because she's actually just fat. |

This is America, you can't just assume a woman is pregnant. Half the women in this country look pregnant anymore. |

Assuming someone is pregnant due to their appearance is not an accurate method of diagnosis. Is it illegal to serve a pregnant woman a drink? Who are you to tell a pregnant woman she can't have a drink? Will even one hurt her or her child? (If yes, do you think this because of something you saw on TV or read on the internet?) How do you know she's not planning to have an abortion? I just find it ironic that a place called Cash's got ripped off for accepting a credit card. |

Either way, you're doing the right thing by denying the drink :P |

When the bartender left the front to get a mop, the man and his girlfriend left the bar leaving behind the credit card, which was declined when the bar tender attempted to make the charges. The man later told deputies he knew the card would be declined. "There was not enough money on it," he told deputies. This is why America will fail: flat refusal to comprehend what a revolving line of credit is. |

| The_Sponge Happy Hours: Is it illegal to serve a pregnant woman a drink? Who are you to tell a pregnant woman she can't have a drink? 1) It's not. 2) Back at that old job, I wouldn't....but that doesn't mean I have to like it. |

However, if a pregnant woman wanted a drink, we were not supposed to say no. WTF?! I suppose that varies by state. When I was tending bar at a microbrewery, our training said similar things about intoxicated people, but we did not have to serve visibly pregnant women. Now, if you're going to make that judgement call, you better be sure she's pregnant (for obvious reasons). On one hand, I don't think it's anyone's decision but her own (to drink when preggers), but on the other hand, that poor unborn baby didn't choose to drink, and it's getting the worst end of the deal, so I wouldn't have a problem refusing alcohol to an obviously pregnant woman. Never had to make that call, though, thankfully. /did cut off quite a few drunk a-holes in my time there. |

When I was waiting tables I was told that it was flat out illegal to refuse to serve alcohol to pregnant women. I ended up serving several, some of who were also smoking. |

Magorn: $10 says the bar gets sued for providing the booze when the little farker pops out with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Unlikely. A: she'd have to remember which bar, and B: I don't think the lapse of responsibility has gotten that bad yet. Then again, families sue bars for drunk driving fatalities, so who knows. |

The_Sponge: Bruxellensis: The_Sponge: Which brewery? KBC And here is where I am embarrassed that I have never heard of it. It was opened in 2004, and is currently only distributed in the northern midwest. They are growing pretty fast, and I wouldn't be surprised if their distribution area grew 2 or 3 times in the next 5 years. They sell their brew in cans, so it's fairly easy to pick out. |

The_Sponge: digitalpirate: When I was waiting tables I was told that it was flat out illegal to refuse to serve alcohol to pregnant women. Damn it so much. Whatever happened to "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone."? Legally, you can refuse service to a pregnant woman. You just can't tell them you refuse to serve them because they are pregnant. You can, however, tell them you refuse to serve them because you have the right to refuse service to anyone. |

While multiple shots of Jager is almost certainly a bad idea for a pregnant woman, having a single beer or a glass of wine every now and then for a pregnant woman in the third trimester is no big deal. Many doctors even tell women not to worry about it. So why would some of you feel so righteous about denying them service? |
||
| DrSticky
I thought it was obvious it was a Cash bar... /that is all I got. |
||
| The_Sponge Armand Tanzarian: So why would some of you feel so righteous about denying them service? Because there was a FAS kid in my old neighborhood who used to put cats into mailboxes On a side note, years ago, a pregnant coworker was wondering if she could have a few drinks during her pregnancy. When she asked for my take on it, I did the correct thing by telling her to ask her doctor, and left it at that. |

Happy Hours: Are you a doctor? Answer me please, are you a doctor? Okay so you admit you're not a doctor. Assuming someone is pregnant due to their appearance is not an accurate method of diagnosis. Assuming someone is not a doctor because they are on the Internet is also not an accurate method of diagnosis. |
