Try not to follow in grandpa's footsteps. Then again, if you fall it'll be easier to clean up, the body will already be bathed and prepped.

The movie "Niagara" with Marilyn Monroe is worth sniffing out. Excellent film, and great shots of the Falls.
(I probably shouldn't have used "sniffing" in that sentence, huh?)

One of my favorite people in the world, a whip-smart lawyer, who used to be a naval architect and could have had a career as a professional ballet dancer should she have chosen to pursue it, decided, as a way to blow off steam while in law school to take a "trapeeze/circus arts" class being offered by the local municipal rec center in Chicago. It turned out her instructors were all Wallendas of the Flying variety.

Now she's a hot-shot IP lawyer by day, Circus performer by night. Which I swear is just to give her a backstory when she decides to become a superhero.

On March 22, 1978, during a promotional walk in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Karl Wallenda fell from the wire and died.

Watch this:

Just go get it and watch it. And he did it between the World Trade Center towers, just for added "oh wow, look at that" goodness.

I just stumbled across that film last week on Netflix. Really good stuff.

My hobbies are so much more tame than Philippe Petit's. At no point will I ever be able to narrate a cooking or software programming experience with the phrase "and death is very close."

/the fact that the "younger re-enactment" also included sex with a groupie amused me greatly
