Well it's good to know that some of the money we are sending to Washington is stimulating something.

I pay the same amount in taxes whether the government spends billions invading other countries or some poor bastard spends $200 at a strip club. Who gives a shiat.

About the only way to stop practices like this apart from having recipients shadowed by social-services wherever they go...would be to replace this $240 temporary assistance card with $240 worth of the items the card is supposed to buy.

I'm thinking it's kinda hard to buy a lap dance with a head of lettuce and a can of soup.

What's wrong with spending money on the necessities of life? Besides, he is helping those girls save for college.

You're telling that some people abuse their federal assistance money?

SHUT IT ALL DOWN AND CUT TAXES!!!!

Or just cut taxes. That'll be fine.

Here's an idea. It seems that there seems to be a lot of abuse of welfare money that is to be used strictly (according to TFA) "for people who really need assistance just to keep food on the table for a short period of time."

Why not set up state run stores where these cards will only be valid? The can be stocked with only items approved by the welfare program guidelines.

The problem is the cards themselves. They are commonly traded for cash, booze, smokes, etc.

Trade away. Just don't allow the card itself to be redeemed anywhere else.

You can code the cards to work only in a grocery store.

On some level I don't have a problem with this assuming its their only form of income because eventually they'll starve or get scurvy or something and then stop sucking off the system.

So you're saying if we reduce welfare fraud we're required to use any savings for invasions? That we can't use it for something that might be a better use of the money like: a) deficit reduction, b) tax cuts, c) other more worthwhile spending than invasions/strippers for poor bastards?

If I remember the "In Living Color" ghetto entreprenuer lessons or whatever they called them, the way it works is a poor guy uses his cards/stamps to buy $200 groceries/diapers/etc. for a poor single mom, who gives him $100 in cash which he can use to buy booze.

The objective is to insert yourself as the middle man in this transaction and make a spread on the deal, allowing yourself to earn "'mo money, 'mo money"

THIS!

Let me ask you a question. Would you rather the welfare money went to a local services organization or that half of that money went to China? Because if you shop at Walmart for something, chances are you're buying a Chinese good, and that money is going back to pay for labor in another country, which does not help us.

This man deserves a farking medal, he understands the power of local vs. global.

Money is a liquid asset. If you try to dictate that the welfare money must not be spent on hookers and blow then people will use it to buy food and then use the money they were otherwise spending on food to buy the hookers and blow.

What do you expect, it's $240 a month! It's not like anyone is going to turn their life around with that kind of money. Might as well spend it all on booze and porn, and try to forget about the hopelessness of your situation.

Using that logic, supporters of small, non-invasive government should also support unrestrained military expenditures.

This is perhaps the weakest analogy on this subject I've ever read.

"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". It's in the Constitution, people!

You're an adult and if not acting like an adult is what makes you happy, and it hurts no children or other third parties, then you have the right to be a dumbass.

They can keep prayer, guns, and strip clubs away from elementary schools, but they can't keep them away from adults without violating the Constitution.

Mind you, the whole Government of the United States, including Constitutional interpretations, is based on special pleading and other logical fallacies, so lot's of luck getting your rights recognized by the Exclusive Owners of the Constitution Club(TM) or the friendly neighborhood fascists at your HOA or Condo Board.

REPORTER: State records Action News requested show that from September 2009 to April 2011, $12 million of TCA funds were spent just in the city of Jacksonville. That could be $12 million worth of baby wipes and diapers-or $12 million worth of booze. Even though this is a program, funded by you the taxpayer, you have no say on how it's spent, where it's spent or what it's spent on.

Fark you with a welfare recipients bumpy penis, Reporter. You KNOW what the money was spent on because you have the report, which is how you know that $600 of the $12 MILLION was spent fraudulently. Tell us about the hundreds of thousands that were spent at grocery stores, rental offices, pharmacies, and coat warehouses. I guess thats not a sensational enough story.

I'm saying that the government spends ridiculous amounts of money on ridiculous things and a few bad apples spending a pittance on frivolous things should be one of the last things that we biatch about. People on welfare getting lap dances are not the problem.

And I never even heard of that strip club in Florida. At least go to Mons Venus.

The concept of a safety net is to make sure people have the basic necessities. Please explain to me how going to strip clubs is a need and not a want.

Welfare programs are intended for people who cannot afford the basic necessities like food and shelter on their own. When people accept welfare and spend the money on things like hookers and booze, they are stealing from people who actually do need the assistance.
