I would never rat out a friend. fark it, life's too short. |

mainstreet62: I would never rat out a friend. fark it, life's too short. Thing is, he ALREADY did rat out his friend. He told them of a conversation he remembered at the time, and somehow in the months after that, he doesn't exactly remember a conversation that he knows is important and remember when asked about it before. Pettite is a scum bag. Not too shocking when you already know the guy is a cheat. |

srhp29: Pettite is a scum bag. Not too shocking when you already know the guy is a cheat. He's hardly a cheat. He used steroids to heal his injured arm. Yes, it was technically against the rules of MLB, but the context is important. |

You know, I think I might trust a lawyer turned baseball writer over some yahoo hack: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 12/05/03/the-daily-news-yahoo-no t- letting-the-facts-get-in-the-way-of-se nsationalism/ |

mainstreet62: He's hardly a cheat. He used steroids to heal his injured arm. Yes, it was technically against the rules of MLB, but the context is important. Did he gain an unfair competitive advantage over players who followed the rules? Technically against the rules is still against the rules. He is a cheat. Also if you really believe he only used PEDs in only that one instance I have a bridge for sale that might interest you. |

Yes, it was technically against the rules of MLB, but the context is important. Let's not do this, dude. I've been a big Pettitte fan for a long, long time, but we can't say that he didn't cheat (unless you want to argue that NONE of that stuff is cheating, but that's a different argument all together). You can maybe say that he cheated to a lesser degree than some other guys, though |

Yes, it was technically against the rules of MLB, but the context is important. He only admitted to using steroids to heal his arm. It was a way for him to face the music but look sympathetic. He's a cheater, like a bunch of the Yankees were. |

I personally don't really care who used steroids how much, or what you think about my opinion. What I do care about is the fact that now there's some semblance of enforcement, imperfect as it may be. |

The rules of baseball didn't specify that steroids were illegal! I'm sure they don't have anything about murder in there either, but I'm pretty sure that if someone got caught doing it, it would be frowned upon. You know, because of the whole "illegal" thing. |

I'd love a bridge. You could fish off of it, and maybe charge tolls. If it's low you could dangle your feet in the water. /wants a bridge |

How dare he try something to heal a part of his body that his livelihood depends on, right?! I mean, should men really fear the day they can't work anymore, for whatever reason? Especially if it ends their career prematurely? That's just crazy talk! |

Who gives a shiat one way or the other? I don't. The only people who do are pathetic losers who actually tie their self-esteem to the outcome of baseball statistics, and weather they were achieved under some arbitrary set of rules said pathetic losers approve of. |

IAmRight: If he had dared to try to improve his athletic performance, however, he would have received none. I dunno, he was much, much better than his brother. I've got no problem using that as evidence that he used steroids. After all, Jose Canseco was much better than Ozzie Canseco. |

Obviously Pettite changed his story. He doesn't need money(far as I know)so he didn't change it for that. I'd say he was getting some flack from players for being a snitch and that caused a memory lapse. I'll reserve my anger for congress, waste of time/money on something they never intended to do anything about. /Sammy Farking Sosa told Congress he didn't speak English, nough said. |

I've always been more upset about 92 than anything else. Damn Lonnie Smith. I don't care who Pettite played for...It's not how I base opinion of him. I can separate the sport for real life. Try it sometime. |

This seems like the best thread to point out that Mariano Rivera just blew out his knee, possibly ending his career. |
