You know who else had a massive egg farm?

The xenomorphs on LV-426, that's who.

I would hate to live downwind of one of those places - they stink bad enough when they're NOT on fire!

Chicken leads to egg. Egg leads to omelette. Omelette leads to fecal urgency.

/If this is obscure to you, then you are missing one of the best things on the planet.

When I was a kid, my dad was a fireman. On Christmas Eve one year, he was called to a chicken farm blaze where tens of thousands of chickens went up in flames. He smelled like burned chicken feathers for days, and wasn't able to eat chicken for a couple months.

I love eggs, but they tend to make everything smell like sulfuric ass. I gather this would have been a horrible stench.

"Since egg demand is typically low this time of the year, and because many local producers have agreed to step up production, the effects of the fire on supply and prices are expected to be minimal."

Uhm, maybe this is a retarded city-boy question, but how are they going to step up production in the short-term exactly? Break out the whips and really keep those hens at it?

I guess they could feed them more, or something? Does that work? Sounds kind of dubious.

Chickens breed and grow REALLY fast. I was in Alabama last December and I was amazed at how well the farms in my parents' area had rebounded after the tornadoes.

Why is egg demand low this time of year? Don't people eat eggs year round? Eggs are a seasonal food?

I had a crackhead neighbor try to fry an egg on a grill w/o putting down a pan or even a sheet of foil. Of course it was charcoal and he didn't douse it so it just kept burning for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes right outside my window.

Egg-cellent. You need to do that in Vincent Price's Egghead voice, not Mr. Burns.

The farm produced 25 percent of the states eggs and at least 250,000 eggs were destroyed in the fire.

At least they didn't put all their eggs in one basket.

They probably process surplus eggs into some product(s), maybe dried powdered eggs to be used in foods, or maybe chemicals or medicines - something with a longer shelf life than fresh eggs.
