| Mike_LowELL Hold on, unpopular opinion coming ... I don't love that '95 Rockets-Bulls matchup for Chicago. Their leading rebounder that year? Scottie Pippen at 5.9. (Remember, the Bulls didn't add Dennis Rodman until that summer.) Their centers that year? Luc Longley and Will Perdue. In The Playoff Series That Never Happened, everyone remembers Jordan looking rusty against the Magic; nobody remembers Shaq and Horace Grant combining for 47 points and 33 rebounds in Game 5, MJ being less rusty than you think (he averaged 31 a game in that series), or Shaq finishing with 146 points, 79 rebounds and a whopping 81 free throw attempts in six games. Were the '95 Magic too big for the '95 Bulls? Sure seems like it. About time someone pointed this out. |

The travesty that was the Staudemire/diaw suspension should be higher. So should the Kings series. |

| IAmRight MyRandomName: The travesty that was the Staudemire/diaw suspension should be higher. So should the Kings series. Totally ignored the fact that Donaghy reffed another one of the Spurs wins, Nash was injured in a third, and Bavetta was the home ref for the Spurs in Game 6 (he's a noted home-team-favoring ref). |

Injuries are part of the game. And frankly, the Bulls were at best the 4th best playoff team. But that never stops Simmons from writing 15000 words to try to create a bullshiat narrative. |

I'm waiting for some guy who slobbers over Simmons' jock to ask for a Super Bowl list in the same vein. He seems to get half of his columns and ideas from Twitter followers. |

Maybe, but it was an entertaining read. For the premise, it was pretty accurate, too. ...though I hate putting DC through any more than it needs to go through. There ARE sports fans there, even ones that actually love DC teams not named "Redskins" |

| Nana's Vibrator The Patriots went to the Super Bowl, the Bruins had a playoff run, the Red Sox are in shambles, and he continues to crank out 50,000 word columns about basketball - a sport that, in Boston, the Celtics 2 playoff games lost in television ratings to regular season baseball games by our current trainwreck of a team. Bill Simmons is neither Boston nor is he the Sports Guy anymore. He's the Basketball Thing. Please, Bill. I know you read Fark comments. Make it official. Hand over the moniker to a younger, deserving, up and coming writer from Seattle or Cleveland who can write about all sports and can quote movies that were made in the past 15 years. |

DirtyDeadGhostofEbenezerCooke: tl;dr short rebuttal: shiat happens/deal with it Maybe you should ghost write for ESPN as well. I really couldn't make it through Simmons' article. Although I did get to the part about the 83 Sixers. Their championship deserved a footnote? Even he admits the Sixers would have dominated no matter what. That team was just unstoppable and I wonder how that team would have done against any of Jordan's Championship teams. |

What the fark is wrong with Boston? No idea. Almost the end for Paul Pierce, one of the greatest Celtics. The end for Ray Allen. Garnett in his resurgence, probably a last hurrah. 1 and 2 are pretty much ties for me. i was surprised that almost every Spurs title was on the list. I was a Spurs fan and felt vindicated that the strike wasnt their only title. Dont watch much anymore, but i bandwagon a bit during the championships. |

Diehard Rockets here. Simmons forgot to mention the Rockets never faced the Sonics in both their title runs. George Karl's (then illegal) zone defense gave the Rockets all sorts of problems. Sam Perkins would just park his ass behind the arc and hit 3s all game. It forced Hakeem to occasionally go out to guard him, and that gave Payton to ability to get to the rim. No way the 94 Rockets would've beaten Seattle if the Nuggets didn't upset them. |

So according to this ass-hat every Spurs championship was won because the Star aligned against another team? I'm a spurs fan and can see the side on the 99 title do to the lockout. But people get injured every year in the playoffs. |

Alright, fine. Enough of this crap. The Sixers have absolutely no freaking chance to win another game this year. Given that, I want to see them go on a 12-0 tear through the East before they ultimately fail just to burn the ESPN Highlander Syndrome coverage ("there can be only one"). |

Also, uh, DERP: 16. 2009 Lakers What Happened: The 65-win Lakers beat Orlando in five for Kobe's first Shaq-less title. The Footnote: The defending-champion Celtics were 44-11 when Kevin Garnett injured his knee on an alley-oop in Utah, knocking him out for the season (and leading to Boston's eventual Round 2 loss to Orlando). With everyone bracing for a Kobe-LeBron showdown, the Magic caught fire in Round 3 and somehow snuck into the Finals with a starting backcourt of Rafer Alston and Courtney Lee. Rafer Alston and Courtney Lee??? Did that really happen? Did I black out for those two weeks? The Verdict: Garnett's injury rarely gets brought up with the 2009 Lakers ... well, unless you're in Boston. That would have been a phenomenal Finals rematch. Damn it all a second time. And 2007 Celtics over the Lakers with Bynum injured? Hello, Bill Simmons the Jerkass, maybe you should look at history before you cry about your Celtics more |

Author missed the 1997 season. There should at least be some sort of footnote on that Bulls championship. The Heat/Knicks series was total bullshiat. PJ Brown flips Charlie Ward over his shoulder and half the Knicks get suspended, Heat come back from a 3-1 deficit...it's crap. Bulls got lucky they didn't have to play that Knicks team in the EC Finals. |

I knew it would be the Rockets. What people love to ignore is how well Houston did versus the Bulls in 1993. Hakeem created a massive matchup problem the Bulls couldnt counter. Oh well. Haters gonna hate |

| drew46n2 This is a piss-poor excuse for an article. Scumbag Simmons: "A basketball season always features collateral damage, whether it's injuries, lucky breaks or someone stupidly assaulting a fire extinguisher." followed by a ton of whining about every champion he didn't like and what collateral damage happened that year. Jordan was suspended for farking gambling....and Olajuwon was unstoppable. I'm pretty sure every team played that shortened-season, and they all competed for the title. How does that diminish the team who came out on top. Just look at this year's playoffs...do you think Kobe is like "fark it, dawg, it's a shortened season. Title don't mean the same."? Uh, no, he's busting his ASS trying to get another ring. Revisionism and what-ifs are for pussies and people who probably shouldn't follow sports. I can seriously rip apart every B.S. "footnote" on his list. Fark that guy. |

Nobody is dropping an asterisk on the 2000 lakers after SA couldn't defend because Duncan hurt his knee in the first round vs. the Suns and missed the series. LA didn't go through the defending champ...ASTERISK! see, any moron can do this. it's asinine. |

Ken VeryBigLiar: bhcompy: Although just about every other time they were in the Finals and lost it deserved to be footnoted. Not really. I have grown to enjoy his articles after realizing he is a homer (yes it took awhile, i love the Lakers!), but i have to say this article was poor form. i chuckled at the Lebron articles and the Kobe hate the last few years because it felt like his wish, not rational. luckily for most of them, my wish got granted more than his. the dissapointing part is that he normally can admit his bias while writing an article that separates the two (Kareem's chapter of his book is a good example). this...felt wrong. the injury section alone felt like any championship could be there. i was expecting. " if the beer cup would have just magically bounced off the ref's head...Pacers' brawl doesn't happen and they eventually win the Finals months later (who cares that games were played, it should happen. it's determined. the team that "should" win does. why that's something Stern should do...wait, that's what i have complained against...) nothing against baseball fans, because it works for their sport, but i hate the statistician like mentality that seeped into the NBA. it's not played on paper, nor individual. should have gone with 5-7 games at the most. probably three: *i started to type them, and kept whittling it down, but realized i could find some foot note for each one (what if Pierce doesn't pretend he needs a wheelchair, Perkins going down, Bynum going down, Malone loosing the ball, 50 game season, ORL not getting a friendly free throw bounce, Magic going down, Isiah going down, Elgin, dear Lord Mikan can just stand at the basket and he's so tall, ect). |
