| doglover Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Port Authority Police Department, said the couple told officers they were unhappy with their jobs in Times Square, and were making idle chatter, unaware that anyone was listening in. They were not charged. "It was an inappropriate comment," Della Fave said. fark you, Dell Fave. It was inappropriate to suspend the the entire train service for 20 minutes when one of the most popular video games of all time is actually a murder simulator based in NYC where you can actually have a grenade battle with infinite SWAT people anywhere in the city. Lighten the fark up people. At most, pull the couple off and let the trains continue. |

| Weaver95 hmm. so when i'm sitting in a train station or airport, it would be a bad idea to tell people that i'm actually not merely listening to music on the ipad, but that i'm also plotting tactical entry scenarios and lanes of retreat? |

Live in fear. Be a paranoid busy body and eavesdrop on strangers. Bonus : You get attention by alerting everyone. People that phone in false alarmist bullsh*t should die with a grenade up their ass. |

If eternal vigilance is the price of liberty, so, it seems, is the occasional transit delay. Dafuq? It's like that whole not sacrificing liberty for security thing is all-out ignored by Americans these days :( |

What do you mean, just say nothing. I want idiots to tell me this kind of stuff. Hell, even if they're crazy and poses no threat, it's still fun to watch the cops drag him off. |
||
| moothemagiccow I'll say what I goddamn like. This is still America, you motherfarking nazis. A grenade would cause a panic and hurt a few dozen people, but the rest will likely ignore it or view it as a publicity stunt. |

(winces) I do this sort of thing all the time. I do try not to vocalize it as much as I used to. "Isn't it beautiful, Tom?" "It's a bad choke point if someone wanted to lay an ambush from there, there or there..." "STOP IT" "What a beautiful bridge!" "It's sort of tough" "What do you mean?" "Tough to climb the way the pilings are made. If I wanted to drop it, you'd have to hope for access up top, or I'd have to rappel down from the top, swing under and place some cutting charges there and there, and if you wanted to drop the next train over the side you might also want to add something like a heaving charge on a delay to tilt the rail bed ..." "Stop. Just stop" "Tom, why don't you just read instead of wandering the concourse?" "Those guys" "What?" "See those guys? The six over there. They're in civilian clothes. But they're all Army NCOs and that guy's an officer, and they're practicing doing sweeps of the concourse" "WHAT?" "Watch the officer. Ok, he's got them together and they're trying to look civilian but they'll all line up and stand at parade rest while he's talking - there they go - now watch - those two stop while the other four move forward..." "What are you going to do?" "Go follow them. It ought to be fun" |

They just started running ads on NJ radio that feature "regular" people having a conversation that goes like this: Moron1: Gee wiz, someone left an unattended package over there. Moron2: OH NOES we should report it, but who do we call? Moron3: I wish there was an easy way to give the transit police tips without having to do anything more then fiddle with my phone Ominous Narrator: Now there is a way to help out big brother, If you see an unattended box or backpack, even just a shifty looking brown person who might be a mooslim terrorist, or if the minorities in the seats around you are just plain scary, then text you tip to 55555 and the transit police will be sure to overreact in the least effective way possible. |

Look, I'm all for free speech, but if you want to check the trains after some dude makes an offhand comment, I don't think that's a hanging offense. Now, if they had been charged for that speech, I would have... Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Port Authority Police Department, said the couple told officers they were unhappy with their jobs in Times Square, and were making idle chatter, unaware that anyone was listening in. They were not charged. Oh. |

| fusillade762 Heh. A friend and I who used to go dancing a lot (and who also both played a ton of CounterStrike) would always talk about finding good "sniper spots" in the clubs. Of course this was just a euphemism for finding a place where you had the best view to scope out chicks. |

It has been released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles, and for the Windows operating system. The game involves a separate timeline and world than its predecessors, starting the fourth "era" in the Grand Theft Auto series, and is set in fictional Liberty City, based heavily on modern day New York City." -Wikipedia |

| doglover fredklein: Probably GTA IV: Exactly. You can even mod it to look EXACTLY like the real thing. Times Square Mod Just step out of the car, and lob a few rockets down towards the nearest car and suddenly it's like the climax of the movie Heat with cops and helicopters and machine guns everwhere until you either die or use the cheat code to lose the stars. I have the game right here on my PS3 for years. How could talking about something like that shut down the whole train system when all it takes is $20 on Steam and in under 30 minutes you can be lobbing grenades into a virtual replica of times square and engaging LEOs and civilians with an arsenal of weaponry big enough for Rambo? Just have an officer on the platform pull the couple aside and find out what's what while the train keeps on truckin' |
