It is a dream, which is why I said should. I also think the Yankees should go 62-100 every year. Then again, what else would you expect from a Pirates fan? Futility is my milieu, and I think that teams that essentially buy championships should share in the suffering on occasion.

Bah! heh... I actually have incredible respect for Mo and wish him a speedy recovery. He's an amazing closer and makes watching the Sox-Yanks series just that much more enjoyable. Hope he can retire from the mound, I just hope he does it after a blown save to the Red Sox.

I don't really follow baseball, but is there a reason a torn ACL is considered a potential career-ender? I can think of a bunch of NFL running backs that have had the same injury, but I can't think any that had to retire because of it. Not all of them could play like the could before the injury, granted, but I wouldn't think that would be as much of an issue for a pitcher.

What I figured. This simply wasn't an acceptable ending. I think if he hurt himself on the mound, he would have been OK with it. This wasn't acceptable.

Well, his age for one. Pitchers rely heavily on their knees, especially for certain pitches. If he's forced to change his mechanics, he'll never be the same.

I suppose I didn't make myself clear. Johnny boy once proclaimed, while wearing a Red Sox uniform, that he would never, ever play for the Yankees. Enough money was thrown at him, and guess what? He played for the Yankees.

You don't get it. A reporter asked him if he would ever play for the Yankees and he said NO!!! He totally should have said yes. Because there would have been absolutely no ramifications from that. None whatsoever. The Boston media totally would have let that go and the fans wouldn't have cared at all.

Plus, the stuff about Damon being a mercenary is false. Every single member of the '04 and '07 Red Sox teams was drafted by the Sox and developed in the Boston system. Their salaries were paid with the money that ownership got from collecting empty bottles for deposit. Unlike those farking Yankees who have never developed anyone (especially not a certain HOF closer).

ACL tear isn't usually a career-ender. Rivera was expected to retire at the end of this season, as he is old in baseball years (42) and his contract expires at the end of the season. Since he is out for the rest of the season, the question is "Will he be able to come back next year?" Will the Yankees want to pay a 43 year old man coming off a major knee injury millions of dollars to be their closer?
