I wonder which stand-up comedian they'll get to replace him? There's no way Sony will kill a cash cow like Jeopardy... especially since a new host would probably make way less than Trebek.

I also wonder if the frightening hardcore Jeopardy fans will go as bugfark nuts as fans of The Price is Right have went because Bob Barker retired and Drew Carey is hosting that show?

No comedians as this is a serious show. Probably Seacrest.

A comedian should not be the host of Jeopardy. A smarter move would be to bring in some news anchor or maybe ask a former contestant like Ken Jennings or one of the other contestants who expressed interest in Trebek's job. They could also just promote someone from the Clue Crew.

It's a Saturday morning...going to be a long, long weekend sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the producers' offices for Wayne Brady.

That was the same thought I had. I said to my hubs 'Alex Trebek is retiring, who will host The Jeopardy...Oh God...It'll probably be Seacrest.' Exact. Words.

I don't think the article says he's definately retiring.

I hope he doesn't.

Or replace him with Sasha Gray.

Trebek's moustache retired 10 years ago and is on a beach in Bermuda sipping rum from a coconut.

My feeling is, it'll be Ken, or it'll be some former "straight man" actor, like a David Hyde Pierce or something. I'd like to think that producers are smart enough to know the comedian route won't fly for them, but like I said, I think either Pierce or even Kelsey Grammar would be a source of unintended comedy that'd work on the show.

Alan Thick. Smug Canadian who thinks he has all the answers. But it should really be Julie McCullough I would watch the first 5 to 10 minutes of that show every night.

Jeff Probst makes the most sense because he did Rock and Roll Jeopardy on VH1.

He can do it part time with Survivor.

I remember watching Jeopardy! with my dad every night after dinner, from the mid- to late-1980s. For the first year or so, he'd complained (nightly!) that the show just wasn't the same without Art Fleming as the host.

Weird to think that, if I had a kid, I could've passed-along that "this new Jeopardy! host sucks..!" memory to them.

They should have guest hosts each week for a season, and then pick the best one. As long as they don't find a way to put in more commercials or change the format I couldn't care less who hosts it. Well, and as long as they are as competent as Trebek.

I like Trebek, but I don't really see how him leaving is that big of a deal. He reads questions and gives awkward 10 second interviews. Any literate person with a bit of personality should do fine.

Ben Stein is even more monotone than Trebek. He could help the elderly audience ease into the warm embrace of death.

It almost strikes me that people don't want 'too much' personality in the host. That it's the questions that are supposed to shine, not the people. So I'm going to go with some middle aged white male of average height, weight, eye/hair color (but with a full head of hair), who is nonthreatening and nonsexual, and has a middling level of fame somewhere above C list, but has no negative PR associated with him (and in fact probably has nothing memorable associated with him either way).

Though I'd love to see Pen and Teller host.

You know who I think would be a great Jeopardy host? He's smart, quick-witted and arguably the best party of CBS Sunday morning (sorry Charles Osgood), that's right, Mo Rocca! Perfect replacement IMO.

Nah, no one cares anymore cause Drew is actually doing a great job.

I miss Bob terribly and Bob was a hell of a lot better, but Drew is doing well and I still really enjoy watching the show when I can.

Kelsey Grammar is a good one. He could pull of the same smugness Trebek has now but is just different enough. But I can't say it enough, a comedian like Drew Carey is not a good fit. Some of the Daily Show correspondents would be. I could see what's his name, the token British guy, working well, as would Samantha Bee
