I saw a huge Great Dane/Dalmatian mix in Kirkland yesterday. I wouldn't say it was cute, but it had presence. |

Clifford and I have the same birthday. Also, what breed was that last one? |

I would have one if I had the room and the strength to restrain one until properly trained because holy hell those dogs a big. What was the wolf like dog? I thought it was a wolf. Is it part wolf? |

I love dogs but wouldn't want a giant breed. Their lives are short even by dog standards and often filled with pain. The canine frame just doesn't work with those dimensions and weight. |

This, a dog even slightly larger than it's general breed will get lots of joint/bone and heart issues.(same as "giant" humans). Can't imagine what these dogs would go through. |

That first pic can't be right; the dog's tongue is almost as big as her face. Either she's lilliputian or that animal is some sort of beast from Luke Skywalker's home planet. (For you yonger farkers, I am making a reference to an old movie called "Star Wars," which is about people in space with light sabers and very bad acting. Also, they had large pets.) |

DarkPascual: [i.dailymail.co.uk image 634x571] What the hell is that!!!??? Would love to have one if I had the space... and a truck to pick up the amounts of shiat it produces... It's a Newfoundland. We had a Newfie when I was growing up, she was the best/worst dog ever. The gentlest, kindest dog I ever knew but an constantly slobbering, shedding beast. My parents used to send me out the back door as a decoy so mom could make it to the car on Sunday morning without her nice church clothes getting slobbered on. They didn't care that I would be a mess. I'd get another Newf in an instant if I had the room for one. |

Loved to lie on top of you (all 130 lbs of her) and lick your face. Big dogs don't live as long though. I'd think about getting another but your lucky to get 10 years out of one and I just don't know if I can deal with such a short time span again. |

DarkPascual: [i.dailymail.co.uk image 634x571] What the hell is that!!!??? Would love to have one if I had the space... and a truck to pick up the amounts of shiat it produces... First, it looks photoshopped. I saw a pixel once, and it was just like that. Second, if true, it must eat 30 lbs of dog food a day, and shiat a pile the size of a bag of Peat Moss. That would make mowing the lawn a hideous bio-hazard and splatter fest. That's why it's always best to get a Chow Chow. the blue tongue is the mark of quality. |

I have more experience with small breeds (a spaniel and a schnauzer, not difficult to train, in my experience) but always wanted a rather big dog, but never had the room. Also concerned with their health issues... |

| freetomato Right before I clicked the shutter, Boone and Ellie were sitting nicely next to my friend, smiling and ready to have their picture taken. When I hit the shutter, something made them bark, thus the shocked look on Linda's face. ![]() The boy on the left is 165, his twin sister on the right is about 120 (minus her tail, which she lost after getting hit by a car). GSD/Great Pyrenees pups, not quite 2 so they are still pups to me. Boone especially is pretty farkin' huge - he met a horse for the first time this past weekend, barked at it once, and hid behind me, peeking at it from between my knees. Big gentle sweethearts. |

Sorry, but I don't go near animals that have bigger balls than I do. These aberrations of nature can collapse under the weight of their own mass as far as I'm concerned. |

| exvaxman While driving through the local park a while ago, I saw a HUGE thing that at first I thought was a bear due to the size and fur. It was a dog. The owner told me the breed but I forgot it after doing a wiki on it. Part of the wiki did mention that people did often mistake the breed for bears. Does anyone know the name of the breed? My memory fails me. It certainly was not common in our area. |

All of these pictures are in fact likely real (i.e., not shooped) examples of forced perspective. Notice how in all of them the person is behind the dog? Well, guess what happens when you place something really close to a wide-angle lens... It fills a disproportionate amount of the frame. And since you don't have the benefit of binocular vision to place objects in space, your brain tends to place them all on the same plane, which makes the object in the foreground look enormous. More info about the first photo (and a more thorough explanation) is available on Snopes. |

DarkPascual: i.dailymail.co.uk What the hell is that!!!??? For what it's worth, the dog is sitting on a grooming table. If it was sitting on the floor it wold it would "only" be as tall as the woman's chest. That is a big Newf though. =Smidge= /If you have to bend over to pet it, it ain't worth keeping. |
