I watched this episode and don't remember this. Then I heard it on sports radio yesterday and thought it was a real clip from Stephen A.

Yes, it didn't make the show but they put it on their site.

"In the fourth quarter Chris Bosh should be locked in a small closet with out a basketball or any other round objects!"

"Mario Chalmers shouldn't even have arms to shoot a basketball with! He should be dismembered and fitted with mechanical limbs like Edward Scissorhands!"

Farking comedy gold

That guy was only half as annoying as Stephen A Smith. And the didn't have ultra douche Skip Bayless arguing with him. So in total, that segment only captured 1/4 of the annoyingness of first and ten.

Proving yet again that SNL has lost its capacity for judging what is funny. This was pure gold.

I'm guessing they thought Stephen A. Smith isn't a big enough 'celebrity' for the actual show. Does he even have any sort of recognition outside of the sports world?

You know SNL, Jay Pharoah can also be used in skits where he plays just a regular guy, he doesn't always have to be impersonating black celebrities. That way you can use him more than 2 minutes per episode.

I don't know...he always seems to be impersonating Will Smith to me, even when he's not impersonating Smith.

What's even more ironic is that it's LeBron of all people who probably SHOULDN'T have the ball in his hands in the fourth quarter.

i do hate what first take became. it's clear that stephen and skip have been instructed to say extremely stupid things extremely loudly. apparently that gets ratings or something. but i find it unwatchable.

I thought Sports Shout on 30 Rock was probably the best spoof of ATH, PTI, and all other incarnations of the 'old guys yelling about sports' genre.

I don't even like sports, but if sports talk shows were like this, I'd watch all the time.

This - I was wondering when I saw the clip (as I don't stay up late enough to watch shows like SNL), "how many people in their audience has ANY idea who the f*ck he's supposed to be?

The Onion does fantastic work on its sports parody videos. Who Would You Kill was one of my favorite bits on their now cancelled sports show on Comedy Central, now they just release GOOMF every few months but it has a ticker at the bottom like ESPN with hilarious shiat and old people yelling at each other.

Get Out of My Face is farking awesome, and while SportsDome had some misses, there were some awesome bits in there. Kwame Brown Draft Lottery, LeBron and Wade leaving Bosh to die in a car with its windows rolled up, a Make-a-Wish little girl is a Phillies fan and her last wish is to go to a Phillies/Mets game and yell profanities at David Wright...

I'm thinking so. I watch plenty of ESPN and really don't know/care if this Stephen A. Smith imitation is accurate. I tend to zone out, leave the room or change the channel when basketballing talk begins.

Question for SNL geeks. I know they cut skits, even up to the last minute... but since its a live show, for exactly an hour and a half... do they go back after they're off the air to film some bonus ones to put online?

I mean, the show isn't edited. There's no cutting room floor, so to speak.

They played the clip the other day on Sportscenter with a live split-screen of Steven A. Smith watching it. He praised it pretty highly, and I think he was being honest because if he didn't like it, he'd do his usual over-the-top schtick and rip it a new one.

They do a dress rehearsal show, audience included, before the actual one.

This hurts me to say, because Steven A Smith is a close personal friend of mine, but there is NO WAY that STEVEN A SMITH should be allowed on the SAME STAGE as Skip Bayless.

Im sorry, Brother, but the talent disparity is just to much.
