the other child "consumed more of the drink" and became intoxicated. He was subsequently evaluated by Clearwater Fire Department medics at the scene and transported by ambulance to a local hospital (where he was treated and released).

Does "treated" mean "given a glass of water"?

What kind of terrible parent orders a virgin daiquiri for a 4-year-old?

While one of the boys "tasted the drink and stopped drinking," the other child "consumed more of the drink" and became intoxicated.

I guess we know which one's going to be the lightweight...

Pfffff my first time gettin' drunk was when I was 3; someone spiked the punchbowl and I camped out under the table beneath it until someone noticed.

Actually, now that I think about it, this may explain a lot.

Alright, mistakes happen...fine. What is with taking the kids to the hospital? Do they really think that they got alcohol poisoning, or is this positioning for the eventual lawsuit?

Pretty much.

Alcohol in normal amounts isn't really gonna harm a kid other than dehydrate them. There's no equivalent to FAS in already-born humans.

Why do you have to order a "virgin daiquiri"? Why not just order a "strawberry slushie"? Same difference, and you haven't introduced the possibility of alcohol.

I have a few questions.

1. Don't a lot of places serve virgin versions of drinks in different glasses or with a different decoration so wait staff can tell them apart?
2. Seriously? Do you know how much sugar is in one of those? They couldn't split it? BAD PARENT.
3. If it was my kid and he was ordering a drink that normally contained alcohol, I would taste if first before allowing him to have it. BAD PARENT.

This happens on a rare occasion. It's no big deal. A restaurant gave my step-daughter a non-virgin daquari once. The kids said, "this tastes funny". Seconds later, before I even said anything, the waitress came running back and grabbed the drink. I didn't pitch a fit about it. Shiat happens.

nothing wrong with a virgin daiquiri...but if the resturaunt serves liquor you gotta taste test the damn thing to make sure there isn't a mix up at the bar. Idiots.

I believe that the right decision in this situation is the one in which the majority of you believe but I would not want to be of offense to those who believe the other way so as not to make the offense with the statement of me on the serving of these drinks to the young people whose level of weight is of not the judgment of me.

Red Lobster used to have these things called "kiddie cocktails" which were essentially sprite and grenadine garnished with fruit on a plastic sword. My dad would give me the cherries from his actual cocktails to throw in. I also enjoyed both candy and gum cigarettes.

And now I"m a drunk.

What? They both involve taking away the one "bad" ingredient and telling the kids that it's fine.

WTF happened to grown-ups keeping their shiat to themselves? No, we have to treat our precious snowflakes like they're just little adults. Then we're surprised when they act entitled.

Mine did it all the time (I loved the pictures in the menus of the pretty drinks). They also fed me a 50/50 soda/wine mix when I wouldn't shut up and fall asleep. Didn't fark me up too much.

This happened to me when i was about 11. I had been allowed to taste grandma's martini before so I knew immediately what that taste was. I just sat there quietly and pretended nothing was wrong. No one ever knew, and i enjoyed the buzz

I wonder how often this happens and someone DOESN'T go full retard?

I can't think of anything stupider than calling an ambulance because a kid had a few sips of a daiquiri. Even if the kid drank the whole thing it's not going to cause anything more serious than a buzzed kid.

And coke is one step from rum and coke, and orange juice is one step from screwdriver, it's a god damn fruity ass kids slush-puppy with rum. Adults have no buisness adding one bad ingredient to a kids drink. Grow the fark up.
