A school bus carrying 19 youngsters to Lorraine Academy slammed into a house in South Buffalo this morning, injuring four students and knocking two people inside the house out of bed, authorities said.

As I just spent an hour on the phone with the DOT about my youngest daughter's schoolbus driver's propensity for turning completely around to yell at the kids while going 45 miles an hour, I'm getting a kick...

Again? This school bus shiat is going to get out of control. It's going to get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.

So going with the assumption that the bus probably wasn't going very fast down a residential street, would the proper response to something in the road perhaps have been, oh I dunno, applying the brakes maybe? As opposed to swerving off the road and crashing into a house, I mean. Just spitballin'.

No wonder kids are becoming obese. That walk to the bus stop is getting too darned short. And it's not even uphill, or through eight foot snow drifts!

I suspect this was a copycat occurance from the bus crashing into a house yesterday in Carmel, IN.

Keep your eyes open, there will be more.

I hate bus drivers. They are dicks. They think they own the road.

Two busses into two houses in two days on Fark. Oh boy!

I drive a school bus in Manchester, NH. Despite whay people may say, it IS NOT AN EASY JOB! nor are all bus drivers lazy bums. Many of us LOVE our job. And at least at my company, we are treained very well AND take our job VERY seriously!

Our biggest problem is when people seem to ignore the light & bl;ow by us while students are trying to load/unload.

I have fond memories of my school bus drivers. They were kind, competent people, and none of them ever crashed into a building that I know of. Ditches, yes. There were days when school should have been called off due to snow and ice but alas, bus drivers were given the task of navigating long, unsalted rural routes. Even inching along, that much mass on that much ice can do some serious sliding...

Very true. We had one of those days this year. One of the drivers had a PLOW TRUCK slide into the back of him. The driver of the bus managed to creep down that very same hill & do it by the skin of his teeth. He was on the side of the road when he got nailed.

On the light side, we had a driver get cut off today by something FARK-wothy: A golf cart! Keep in mind, this ain't Florida. It's downtown Manchester, NH during the morning rush hour!

Okay, both of those are scary. Well, mostly the first one, but of course a golf card would stand no chance at all against a bus. Hope everything turned out alright?

Ice. When the roads are like that, it's best to stay in. Pity it's not always the drivers' call.
