Joe Biden gives one of the most emotional, passionate speeches of his (or anyone's) career... not one iota of partisanship

I don't care what your political orientation is... if you watch this speech and feel nothing, there's something wrong with you.

And that's the reason I've always liked the guy. His gaffes are usually a politician being honest. We just don't handle that well. I think he's still a real human being even after all his years in Washington.

No, that's what he's been doing. This has been pretty much the job he was brought on to do...

I did sort of feel bad for Sarah Palin when she had to share a stage with the guy. I don't think anyone is really going to relish going up against Joe this time around either...

I think we've actually started to get better. It is a bit off putting when someone who is expected to be polished shows some rough edges, but once we know the edges are rough we tend to be more accepting of it.

Plus, he got Obama to support gay marriage.

I know, right? An honest politician. Before he talks about suicide, he clearly understands that there's a fair chance he's going to take partisan flak for it, then you can kind of see the second where he decides that the people need to know they aren't alone far more than he needs political expediency.

They're incapable of seeing the opposition as anything other than the enemy. Their worldview is too black-and-white.

The beauty of it is that he directed it to the family members personally. It was brutally honest, even taking a big risk mentioning suicide. He ended with hope for them. Sometimes hope is all we have.

I can't imagine it wasn't heartfelt.

Conservatives are sure that Joe Biden is an idiot. Republicans think he makes an easy mark. Though he makes gaffes aplenty, Biden is as intellectually on-point as anyone at that level of power over the past 50 years. Furthermore, he possesses a top-notch knowledge of foreign policy and appeals to most in the general public - plus, he's genuine.

Smart, educated, genuine - everything Mitt Rmoney is not. Biden will make a great president in 2017.

He said something that resonates. He was pissed when people said "I know how you feel" even though he knew they meant well. That is how I felt when people said "I am sorry" when my dad died (I was 8). It is just something that can't be understood or felt unless you go through it.

I really enjoy Joe Biden.

His "gaffes" are almost never actually gaffes when looked at in context, and he's capable of some incredible public speaking when he's on.

That speech was fantastic.

So long as one can view the opposition as some sort of evil force, hell-bent on destroying the country by any means necessary, you don't have to question your own views. Humanize them, and now you have to actually consider their opinion.

Happens on both sides (yeah, yeah, both sides are bad...) but that really is, IMHO, what is wrong with politics these days. And I don't ever see that going away. Not with 24hr news, where opinion shows are much more profitable than reporting, and the internet where anyone can find their own little echo-chamber. And social media, where any person can propagate false info and their 'friends' will take it as fact...

I'm sure he would love to run but his association with Chicago will kill any chances. I think he knows that and has committed himself to Chicago.
