what a farking dbag he is.

I made the perfect scrambled eggs the other morning. Put the pan on the stove, turn the heat on high, crack 3 eggs in the pan, clean up a bit, then take a fork and stir them up a bit - YES, I took a fork and applied it directly to the teflon coated pan (Oh horrors, you hipsters will say). Stirred them up a bit and when they were firm and tasty looking I took it off the heat, dumped it on a plate and sprinkled a bit of salt and generously dumped pepper on it.

What Gordon Ramsey made in that video was not scrambled eggs. It was toast with some sauteed mushrooms and tomatoes along with some other crap mixed in with his eggs, but we all know his mother sliced his balls off when he was a young boy and sauteed them and served them to him for breakfast so what do you expect?

Meh. Suit yourself. Those eggs look delicious to me and I'd eat them along with the toast, mushrooms & tomatoes in a heartbeat.

I'm sure it was very good the way he cooked it, but I'm in a foul mood and FFS most normal people - well, normal is arguable, but I just have eggs in my 'fridge. I would consider what he did eggs and toast and some sauteed vegetables. Usually I finely slice ham to put in my scrambled eggs, but I just couldn't be bothered the other day and I made just plain old scrambled eggs.

More attention should be given to how high the heat is and things like that rather than making them with chives or whatever he chopped up into it.

Usually I use too low of a heat - based upon what I did the other day. using higher heat they cooked faster and gained a better consistency.

He seems more of a show-off than someone trying to teach people how to cook better.

I do remember almost this exact same subject line from about a year ago here but it linked to some unknown chef instead of Ramsey and there was much discussion as to how best to do scrambled eggs. It was the first time I had ever heard of people adding milk to them. I tried that, but either I did it wrong or I just don't like my eggs that way.

Some people seem to like their eggs runny. I don't. I like them firm. I don't think they cook much after they get dumped out of the pan.

But then again I admit I'm not much of a chef, but people like Gordon Ramsey just really piss me off with their smugness and holier than thou attitude. IMO, they should either shut up and make me breakfast or take the time to explain their techniques.

I know my scrambled eggs taste better when I slice up ham and grate some cheese and maybe a few veggies with a side of toast, but the basic dish is scrambled eggs. High heat or low heat? Crack them in a cold pan and then heat them up and scramble them or scramble them and pour them into a hot pan?

Nah - that's too basic for him.

Then again I am a horrible cook. I can make toast and program a microwave. If I'm feeling really adventurous I might heat or maybe even boil something on the stove or throw a steak on the grill.

I've never seen scrambled eggs done like that. I'm going to have to try it. And since people pay him lots and lots of money just to cook, I'll assume that he knows what he's doing. That looked delicious.

Some people add a small amount of milk to the raw egg mixture because it tends to make the scrambled eggs fluffier. Some people, like myself, don't add any milk. It's more personal preference. I generally use a medium-low setting when cooking scrambled eggs and a non-stick skillet.

Personally I like Gordon Ramsay, even if he is arrogant as all get out.

You can have better control and less dry edges and none of that on/off the burner if you cook your eggs using a double-boiler.

As far as the "no whisking in advance" and "no seasonings in advance", well, I'll have to give it a try though I'm skeptical about its importance.

/getting ready to make breakfast now.

I do no whisking in advance, but I salt them in the skillet. I crack in, and let a considerable bit of the egg set before stirring.

I do use a small skillet (6 inch) if I'm doing 3 eggs or less, and I think it makes a huge difference. Also, a nice knob of bacon grease in the bottom.

Hey baby, I hear the blues a-callin',
Tossed salad and scrambled eggs

Oh My
Mercy (alt: Quite stylish.)

And maybe I seem a bit confused,
Yeah maybe, but I got you pegged!
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!

But I don't know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs.
They're callin' again.

(The following are alternate endings)

They're callin' again.
Good night, Seattle, we love you.
What is a boy to do. Good night.
Frasier has left the building.
Thank You!
Scambled eggs all over my face. What is a boy to do. Goodnight, everybody.
See you next year, we love ya.

I've used Ramsay's recipe for scrambled eggs a couple of times, and it's really good. I usually do it the way he says not to (crack 'em into a cup or bowl and whisk with salt & pepper beforehand), and it also comes out really good.

If you enjoy cooking, give Ramsay's way a shot. It's fun and you'll end up with a different result than most of us are used to.

Hipsters don't use teflon. Hipsters use immaculately seasoned cast iron. And the reason you don't use a fork on nonstick is because YOU END UP EATING THE NONSTICK AND IT'S POISONOUS

whip together a little sour cream and even less cream cheese. I've always thought creme fraieiaecheie tasted like sour cream with a consistency closer to cream cheese.

Despite being allergic to eggs, I made my mother the perfect scrambled eggs on toast yesterday. I had to wash my hands several times because I didn't want to get some messed up allergic reaction, but... All I did was:

2 eggs
knob of butter
salt & pepper
splash of milk.

Melted the butter in a pan. Added salt & pepper. Added milk until hot (not boiling) added two eggs and whisked constantly until cooked. Yes, the 'taking it off the heat' thing works but only towards the end of cooking.
It was then distributed evenly to two slices of buttered toast. I was a bit nervous about it but it seemed I'd got it right. Yes, before I became allergic to eggs, I'd do them each time that same way.
Sorry Gordon, but.. no! creme freche and chives are for if you melt cheese into the scrambled egg!
(choose a good farm produced crumbly cheddar, not the stores own crappy cheese and grate finely over the scrambled eggs once its cooked and just before serving)

Those were scrambled eggs? The end result looked more like scrambled goop to me.

I'm sure it tasted fine, but scrambled eggs should not have the consistency of soggy mashed cauliflower. That's a different product from scrambled eggs.

my "scrambed eggs" are more like an ommlete without anything in it except some pepper and hot sauce. sometimes I'll use dill instead. If I have any cheese in the house, i'll just make an ommlete instead of scrambled eggs.

mostly, its
step 1: get in car
step 2: drive to ihop or bob evans or mom's house
step 3: eat whatever eggs are placed in front of me.

Used to have John Fogerty's recipe for scrambled eggs from a 70's rockstar cookbook. He uses sour cream. Tried it, it was pretty good.

Apparently it is only toxic to humans when heated above 400 degrees and just passes through our digestive system.

Don't use a fork or anything abrasive in any type of pan then food will tend not to stick.

Add sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Wait till its firm enough to flip, add a piece of american or shredded cheddar and real bacon bits. let the egg finish cooking, fold on your plate.

Those eggs looked a bit too mushy too me, and way too many ingredients. I still might try them eventually.

Perfect eggs for me: Break 3-4 eggs into bowl, mix a little milk or water in, whisk, butter in pan, start cooking eggs, fold some cheddar cheese into the eggs in the pan, slide the eggs onto a plate when they look almost done, and let them finish cooking on the plate. A little salt and pepper and then ketchup.

Yeah same. When whisking in pan with spatula, I'm always left with 'white bits' when its done, so I get the mixture as yellow as possible with fork before cooking. I still season at end though, as it makes the mixture too slppy before hand.

Perfect scrambled eggs :

- butter, not oil
- low heat
- NO WHISKING! Not before, not during cooking. Whisking is for omelettes.

What you want to do is put the eggs in the pan, stirring while about half to two-thirds of the white has firmed up. Then and only then break the yolks, stir well, and season with salt n pepper. Add milk at this point if you like them with milk. Keep cooking until desired point (runny, dry, whatever).

Yeah, all those hipster grandmothers out there, using cast iron.
The word "hipster" is used as stupidly on Fark as "liberal" is in the Fox and Friends comments.
I use cast iron pans because they're easy, durable, cheap, and have less poison.

That said, I apparently cook my eggs completely wrong, but I don't end up with egg slop, so I'm ok with that.

Cook 1 slice chopped bacon (in a hipster cast iron pan)
Sop up (some) grease with paper towel
Saute chopped kale and onions on med-high (yes, kale is awesome in eggs)
Break 3 (room temp) eggs into pan
Stir with anything you want, cause it's farking cast iron and can take it
Season with salt, pepper, thyme and sage (adds breakfast sausage flavor)
Eat
