I like Shaq. He's amusing. But why would you want him as GM? |

rcf1105: Who in their right mind thinks that Shaq is in any way qualified for a GM job? I've seen this exact sentiment out there, but it doesn't make sense to me. Why exactly wouldn't he be qualified? Many great players have had the chance to run a team with varying degrees of success - recently I can think of Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Chris Mullin, Michael Jordan, Joe Dumars, and Larry Bird (plus Steve Kerr and John Paxson for not so great players). Shaq played in the league a long time, knows the game, and I assume still has some good connections in that organization. He could be a good public face for them (like how Magic is for the Dodgers), and you can easily put an experienced staff around him to help him out (like Bird has done in Indiana). But like the article states, he just has too much going on to take on. I think he could do the job, but wouldn't want the daily demands of it. I give him Kudos for recognizing that and turning down the opportunity. Jordan should've done the same thing when it came to his involvement with the Bobcats. |

I'd like to see Bill Simmons have a crack at it. He would probably trade Dwight to Boston, but I would still like to see it. |

If it gets Shaq off TNT, please give him the job. I thought Shaq would be good in the booth, but he just interferes with the great chemistry Charles, Kenny, and Ernie have. |

Agreed. He's trying too hard. And he doesn't have to. He just needs to be himself and it'll work as intended. |
