I made some pretty nice strawberry shortcakes out of scones. (Although it's hard to beat the classic Devon cream tea, with clotted cream and jam.)

Scones are just a rich biscuit. Very easy to make.

They'll scone you when you're at the breakfast table
They'll scone you when you are young and able
They'll scone you when you're trying to make a buck
They'll scone you and then they'll say good luck
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get sconed

Meh, RTFA, scones are ok.

Add chopped fresh chives and grated Parmesan
for a savory homemade scone.

Large Potato
+
Microwave
+
chopped fresh chives and grated Parmesan and butter and sour cream
=
Takes 1/2 hour

Easy, good and cheap.

I make either blueberry or fig scones a couple times a month. Don't overwork the dough.

Erebus1954: It's a gateway pastry.

It's not a pastry. That's what they want you to think, but scones are totally natural bread products and our forefathers were eating scones when they founded this country. By calling them pastries, you're just playing into the propaganda of the anti-scone activists and the government. Thank goodness that a recent poll showed that the American public is getting on board with scones.

Soon there will be medical scone dispensaries everywhere attracting an undesirable element into nice neighborhoods.

I just made Rebecca Rather's bacon cheddar scones to bring to a friend's house, so I'm really getting a kick, etc. Google them, bake them, and feed them to your thankful friends. Mmmmm. So very tasty.

Rebecca Rather's cookbook "The Pastry Queen" is great, by the way. Wonderful recipes and pretty pictures abound.

/more Fark baking threads, please! This is fun!

I saw this and told me wife about it. I was all like "Hey, woman, why don't you make us some scones?" and then she was like, "OK, but you have to help." and so I said, "OK."

They turned out yummy. Very yummy. We made blueberry kinda.

o.O

You started off trying for blueberries, but something went wrong at the last moment and they got replaced by small pieces of gravel from the driveway?

Only in Utah can you get real scones. Those semi-biscuit abominations you all are talking about are awful and dry.
