Perfect example of technically good playing and mediocre songwriting... |

New Panopticon song over at Decibel (I'm as shocked as you that they're promoting awesome music). After hearing it, all I have to say is that the best album of 2012 will most likely be Kentucky or Never Quite Dead. Can't f*cking wait. |

good things - Occultation - The Sea of Snakes and Souls (occult doom rock - holy fark this album is good) Abnormality - A Chaos Reserved (technical/brutal death) Stalwart - Corrosion (um... whoah... uh... progre?... uh... wut?) Chaos Inception - Phalanx (The Tip of the Spear) (death) Chaos Inception - The Abrogation This is really farking good, but the youtube samples are gone :( Bastard of the Skies Cortez - Johnny (outstanding stoner/doom) Wodensthrone - Wyrgthu (pagan/black) Azoic - Monasterium (black/death) |

Adebisi: Well that sucked. New Nile New Marduk New Ihsahn New Deathspell Omega Mantas' Death by Metal re-release Woah. This may be my single favorite/expensive post of yours, ever. I haven't listened to Ihsahn since AngL (it was good, but didn't stick with me - I think I missed out on what he's done since). I was on the fence the first time I heard the new Nile song - the sound is a bit different than their older stuff, but since they were stagnating on their last couple of albums it's probably a good thing that they've changed a little, and now that I hear it again I'm sold on the new album. And I just can't spend money on the others soon enough :) |

I don't think I'd normally like Carach Angren, so maybe I'm just in a really good mood, but I enjoyed that a lot. Panopticon also surprised me in a very good way. And Pagan Altar is awesome. |

HighZoolander: I haven't listened to Ihsahn since AngL (it was good, but didn't stick with me - I think I missed out on what he's done since). After is a great album, certainly his proggiest. What I've heard from his is new one is good, but doesn't blow me away. I'd like Nile a lot more if they just put some bass in their music. HighZoolander: Wodensthrone - Wyrgthu (pagan/black) Not a big fan of the genre, but that was really good. Other good stuff: Unmothered New Ahab |

So I watched the Battlecross video, and noticed the drummer had a big tattoo across his upper chest. Took me a minute to decipher it, and I'm not sure if it says "God Speed" or "Gods Peed". I'm kind of hoping it's supposed to be the latter. |

It's just magnificent. My favorite track is "On the Shores," but the whole album is brilliant and I can't wait for Eremita. |

Another new Panopticon track, over at Hammer Smashed Sound, along with a review. Now I'm even more excited for Kentucky. |
