I've still not heard any actual explanation of WHy she fell. Was it an equipment failure? Were they really too dumb to remember to hook her in? That seems almost impossible, seeing as, if I were going hangliding I would need to feel very confident I was strapped in. I've been ziplining before and you bet your ass I paid a lot of attention to how the safety clips worked and double checked I was attached before each jump.

Lets suppose that if the fault could legitimately be 100% entirely placed on the lady doing something outrageously stupid, he is still looking at lawsuits that would ruin his business and his families life. Even frivolous ones will do it.

So, I am not immediately thinking that just the fact he tried to hide the video necessarily implies he felt he had done something wrong to cause her death. Not saying he didn't either, just that hiding the card really doesn't mean much either way. He didn't even know exactly what was shown on it.

Forgetting to hook in is actually a common accident in hang gliding. Of course you're supposed to check before you go, but it's really easy to forget if you get distracted, or are waiting for the wind too long. I saw it happen once, but it was on a little hill so it wasn't a big deal for that guy.

Seriously, though, sudden deaths are a biatch for those left behind. One of the nice things about slow deaths like cancer is you can get your affairs in order and say goodbye to everyone.

Problem is, she only paid for the hang. There is an additional fee to glide.

Getting your affairs in order is a kindness to your intimates, but it does you no good, and anyway is mostly an issue for people with dependents or significant estates, not singles in their 20s.

Saying your goodbyes is as apt to make people feel worse as it is to make them feel better. Depends on personality, maybe, but to many people it is just a miserable prelude to the Final Croak. One of my friends died suddenly (OD) and I'm glad that my last memories of her was of her partying hard rather than burbling out some tearful farewell.

You die as you lived. It is fitting that people remember you for how you lived. Your life with them is your eulogy.
