When singing the Star Spangled Banner, you should always make it about you. You need to own it, it's your moment and those people are standing for you. |

| rickythepenguin he was on adam carolla podcast about a month ago -- shiat, or was it jay mohr's? and whomever's it was, i seem to recall saget saying he was really into theater / filmmaking before he got the comedy bug. so if he had a theater background i guess this would not be too much of a stretch. pretty cool find. |

I'm still trying to figure out why the hell Bob Saget was at a White Sox game. Looks like he was playing a casino in Indiana, but that's about it. (Nice performance though, and then the Sox kicked the Indians around a bit.) |

Whenever I go to a game I always give the national anthem singer a grade. I rarely give out an A. If I were at this game I'd give it a B. Two nitpicks are that he started too low and came out of key a few times at the low end. The other is that it was too slow. As it's to the tune of an old English drinking song, it's meant to be performed briskly. I heard somewhere the benchmark for the anthem's being too slow is 1:25, and this one came in at around 1:40. /worst anthem I remember? Natalie Cole at Super Bowl XXVIII. She actually sang words from America the Beautiful at one point |

Kids, in the summer of 2012, I sang the national anthem in Chicago. To understand how I got there, we have to go back a few days... |

I was there and it was pretty amazing. When they announced him singing that stated here is a "actor, comedian and singer" -to which we collectedly all said "really, a singer?". /After he sang they played the theme song from Full House not once but twice. |

While Saget wasn't trying to ham it up, I did find him to be flat. My personal favorite rendition -- Huey Lewis and the News from the 80's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3qD1j KNYaU |

My personal favorite rendition -- Huey Lewis and the News from the 80's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3qD1j KNYaU Yeah, it's not terrible, but for those of us with near-perfect pitch (I can't do the naming of a tone thing like my sister, but otherwise...) it was a little difficult to listen to. To be fair though I have that problem with a LOT of live performances, since autotune has led to extremely lazy musicians these days... |

Could be worse, imagine Kanye west or one of these crappy ass Autotune singers doing the national anthem? Reminds me of the sounds my ass make after drinking a dozen newcastle brown ales and downing Taco Bell at 3am. |

I like it. A good standup version of the anthem, the way its supposed to be. Just get up there and belt it out; you aren't Jimmy Hendrix, so put away the special effects. /And just for kicks a really nice version. One of the best in my opinion. |

Am I the only person who's waiting for an upbeat version of that song. You know, something that might match the cadence of an old British drinking song? |

Smart of him to start at the lowest note he could muster, otherwise the "freeeee" part would have been really painful. |
