While that is quite impressive, it is quite boring.

So did he actually fail at the 5:56 mark, or did he succeed to fail, which in itself a success, and therefore failure at failing?

/very impressed, very confused

You know, it is very common for people to have the ability to sing and play a musical instrument at the same time. Often where the instrument isn't simple acompliment or doubling.

I guess this piece was for people who can't sing.

Yeah, if the music had a discernible melody it would have been more interesting, and impressive.

I'm pretty sure the point is that the pace/rhythm of the "lyrics" to this piece have no relationship to the music. Try playing one song and saying the lyrics to another, keeping the original lyrical rhythm.

Very neat piece. He failed. The rhythm of his speech was very influenced by the rhythm of the music. To do otherwise is nearly impossible. The rhythm of natural speech is closer to this

Hotlinked from vai.com. Check out Vai.com Tempo-mental.

I enjoyed the performance, and he succeeded by failing.

Impressive.

Singing while playing an instrument is tricky, but talking normally - and out of sync - is almost impossible.

Seriously, if you play guitar or piano or whatever, try holding a conversation while playing. You immediately go full retard.

Interesting concept. Just got too philosophical for a guy like me who just wants to listen to Peter and The Wolf or Good Vibrations.

So I failed to watch it all the way through.
