He's still missed. The Troy McClure film that was never made is a gaping hole in American culture. |
||
| Mugato And Adam Sandler still walks the earth. |

I'm convinced the continued success of Will Ferrell would have been avoided if Hartman hadn't been murdered, or at the very least would have been improved by someone actually funny for him to play off of. |

"There's the truth, and then there's the TRUTH". |

| Darth_Lukecash As much as I want to blame his wife- she was farked up on drugs. While that doesn't absolve her tragic choice to take them, she literally had lost her mind when she killed Hartman. Andy Dick gave her the drugs, and John Lovitz should be allowed to punch him out every anniversary. |

Just think. He would still be making us laugh today if it wasn't for that Andy Richter jackass. |
||
| suziequzie I know he's dead. I know it happened years ago. BUT: to this day, everytime I see him on tv, hear his voice or hear his name, I say "I can't believe Phil Hartman's dead." Such talent lost forever. |

I still vividly remember that day. I was at rehearsal for a summer play, and somebody broke the news. It was...awfully silent for a while. We didn't get much done that day. |

that's a pretty darn good Australian accent he does in that last sketch. |

I wish I weren't an athiest. Then I could believe that Andy Dick would be spending eternity in a lake of fire. |

How great was Phil Hartman? SNL has a NO IMPROV policy and he clearly got to break it every now and then. |

You know, I remember hearing he was dead around the time, but not on the day it happened which is why I totally didn't realize his date of death coincides with my birthday. As if it wasn't enough having my car rear-ended Friday and spending the weekend in a neck collar thing wasn't enough... now I'll never shake the extra shade of grey from the date. Thanks, Fark! ~_~ |

My dad picked me up from school in 7th grade and told me. I also remember when Jim Henson died when I was in kindergarten. |

I can't find a video of it, unfortunately, but there was a famous on air blooper with Phil. He, Lovitz, and Nealon were doing Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein with Nora Dunn as an interviewer. In the SNL book he says that towards the end of the sketch he thought how ridiculous it must look to have Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein sitting there and he chuckled for a second. Then he got to thinking how ridiculous it must look to have Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein sitting there laughing and he full-on broke. /We miss you, Phil |

| Mr. Coffee Nerves It's hard to name a comedy film in the last decade that -- regardless of quality -- would not have been improved with Phil Hartman added to the cast, most notably (in my opinion) Anchorman. |

Every good SNL cast has a Hartman. A workhorse who can take on practically any role and winds up being in almost every sketch. He wasn't just funny, he was a gifted actor who could underplay, or overplay depending on what was best for the sketch. I think he only ever really explored his potential on News Radio where they encouraged him to steal scenes. |

We was in a few movies but not as some obnoxious character he created on SNL. |

| bionicjoe Two important men in my life died in 1998; my dad & Phil Hartman. I didn't really laugh until a great episode of Whose Line is It Anyway over a year later. I'm gonna end up watching that farewell clip from News Radio in the dustiest room in my house aren't I. Damn you subby! |

Bathia_Mapes: Mugato: And Adam Sandler still walks the earth. As does Andy Dick. The most impressive thing about Newsradio is that it starred Andy Dick and Joe Rogan and not only was the show funny, but those two even held their own. I still watch the hell out of that show. /your last name's Garelli? |
