I didn't think Pete Campbell could be more of a sleazeball and then I watched this episode. I hope Trudy finds out he cheated on her with Rory Gilmore and takes his head off with the gun he has in his office. |

I guess I didn't realize that Joan was struggling so much. She mentioned that $50k would be four times what she makes in a year, which would put her around $12,500. In today's dollars, that'd be over $80k a year. I know the cost of living in Manhattan is high, but even with a baby, I'd think she'd be making enough to be doing okay. Not only that, but with her divorce impending, she'd likely get child support, since Greg hasn't figured out it's not his kid and they couldn't do paternity testing back then. It just makes me sad, I guess. I wanted to see her become more of a player, but not like that. Still, it was pretty slick of Lane to suggest the partnership rather than the cash. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. |

They did make a point of mentioning again this past episode that the partners still aren't getting bonuses. So I think it might actually come back before the season is done. |

It's damned expensive living there. Last time I drove up to see her, tolls alone to get to her apartment were almost $75 (including $17 on the VN bridge) and parking was right around $50 a day. Geebus. I have to give Lane major props for suggesting that - he knew that would be the gift that kept on giving. She was all disgusted at first, but when the merit of his idea took hold, the look on her face changed to "You intrigue me . . . " Pete, however, still reigns as the biggest tool on TV. |

Of course if SCDP goes under her 5% will be worth nothing. Or if the partners are required to put up money again for whatever reason Joan likely won't be able to afford it. |

You can't freakin' tell me that Jaguar didn't already know this was part of the plotline. Of course they would have put up money for this product placement. CSB time: Once when I was on a transatlantic flight I sat next to the woman who was (or at least claimed to be) the voiceover artist on the "Unwrap a Jaguar" ads. She talked about how the creators of the ad insisted that she had to exaggerate her plummy accent--which was already pretty damn plummy--for American audiences. It was kind of like how any American accent in an ad in the UK has to feature a Texas accent because it's the most recognizable one. /and though she was MILFily hot, we went on our separate ways. //End of CSB time. |

moothemagiccow: then it devolved into your standard soap opera. Hardly. The show is brilliant. I'm sorry if you don't feel that way, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, you're missing out on probably the greatest television show...ever? There's a lot of really excellent television shows out there, but none of them are "Mad Men." I think your characterization of it is glib and inaccurate. |

As soon as Chemical finds out that Lane didn't have the board's permission for that $50k advance, I wouldn't be surprised if they called in the entire loan immediately - and Joan would be stuck with 5% of that bill. Yeah, it has the potential of being a major screwing for her, even worse than being married to Dr Captain Greg. |

HoboCop: Show needs more Roger Sterling Farkin' A right. Roger makes me LOL at least once every episode. The Russian opera out of the vodak bottle is one of the high points of the season. Roger just looks at it, smiles, and pours a drink. But for me the classic Roger moment is when Megan's dad says "Eventually little girls have to spread their legs and fly away" and Roger is all "Ho ho HO!" with a knowing smirk on his face. |

Mentat: Watching Pete get his ass kicked was a great moment in television. GRIMY LITTLE PIMP! This season has been astounding. The Roger Sterling Acid Trip episode was one of the greatest things I have ever seen. Even the less-good episodes this season have been better than anything else on television. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the notion that this show is tantamount to a soap opera is just inconceivable to me - I don't know if it could be any more the opposite of exactly that. |

| 8 inches This season has been the worst ever with one notable exception - last week's episode, which was awesome. Everything else HAS been one big Soap Opera, filled with feelings and emotions. I had gotten to the point that I just fast forwarded through any scene that didn't take place in the office. Hopefully things have now turned a corner and this show can get back to the excellent entertainment I had come to expect. /STILL my favorite show on T.V. |
