Surely, banning (non-existent in this country) sex discrimination among the unborn is the most important crisis facing our nation. Glad to see them hard at work on it.

The bill they're talking about (if this is the correct bill) provides a legal for an upset relative to stop a woman's abortion on the claim that the abortion was gender-biased. Which could easily lead to an investigation long enough to completely prevent abortion.

Basically, the bill says "Abortion is legal, provided that there are no dissidents in the entire family."

It's part of Cantor's summer agenda, the centerpiece of which:

"A bill set for consideration by the House before the August recess would revamp the finances of the struggling U.S. Postal Service and permit the mail agency to eliminate more than 100,000 positions in the coming years through buyouts, early retirements and layoffs, if labor union contracts are renegotiated. And a series of appropriations bills set for votes this summer would cut thousands of well-paying, highly skilled federal jobs."

It may be....here's a snippet from one of the links found in TFA:

"PRENDA would ban abortions sought based on the sex of a fetus, threaten doctors with up to five years in prison for performing such a procedure, and even require doctors and nurses to report women whom they suspect are seeking an abortion for these reasons."

Useless... The GOP House was going to be all about "Job Creatin'", right?

How many Abortion or other nonsensical social conservative bullshiat bills have they debated since 2010?

Remember how the Tea Party wasn't just made up of Republicans, but instead it consisted of everyone across the political spectrum that was sick and tired of big-government spending and large deficits?

I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why all the Tea Party freshman are not only Republicans, but extreme social conservatives that try to pass yet another anti-abortion bill each and every month...

Dude, you're totally glossing over the fact that this abortion legislation would be totally unnecessary if Obama had taken better care of the economy and the recovery had been faster. THAT'S the real war on women. How Obama economically disenfranchised women, making it necessary for government to legislate their uteri.

If you don't see the connection and the necessity, you're blind.

The TP was never a 'everyone' group, or if it was, it may have been for the 10 minutes between Rick Santinelli's temper tantrum on CNBC and the GOP co-opting the idea as their own creation.

From nearly day one, the TP was GOP born and Fox-bred astro-turf with silly hats and badly misspelled signs. Hell bent on winning the mid-terms, they catapulted as many as they could into the halls of Congress and state houses across the country, and the results have been both disastrous and comical.

Now, with the monster on the loose and noone left to control it, the few who came to their senses are now turning into RINOs in an attempt to look sane, while the rest of them cling to the crazy train they helped build in the hopes that independents forget who they are.

Right, but try pointing that out to any Fark Independents at the time, and they insisted it wasn't made up of only Republicans. I was just wondering if any of them still clung to that ludicrous notion....

It's a Republican House. They have two modes of operation:

1) Giving Holy Job Creators more money and fewer rules.

2) Taking rights away from everyone else.

Perhaps if the GOP espoused health care for all, programs to help single mothers, programs to educate all children and help them be able to become adults that are an asset to this nation. Perhaps if the GOP did all of these things - and did them well, perhaps then and only then would I ever consider their stated stance on abortion.

But they don't, can't, won't and seemingly never will.

Serious question: do Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass have anything to do with this, or are the Republicans just picking the names of random dead Americans out of a hat and tacking them onto the bill?

That is, Republicans may think they get the best mileage out of this bill by selling it as compelling and necessary, and then setting it up to fall short, for which they can then blame Democrats. Indeed, if the bill does fail today, it will have been Democrats who prevented it from passing, but only because it will have been Republicans who opted not to use their ability to schedule the bill for consideration under regular order, where it could pass without needing any Democratic support.

No, I think FartBongo did it. I'm pretty sure we're going to end up blaming him. Sure wish he'd get busy passing a budget.

Planned Parenthood takes money to eliminate fetuses regardless of parentage. That's the point.

By the way, enjoy watching your children and their children as they work to undo all of the social backwardness you pushed for your entire life. Hopefully they'll be able to stomach their embarrassment at you and come to see you at the holidays, you old bigot, or else your twilight years are going to be very angry and lonely.

Whew, that was close. For a minute there I thought they were going to undo burdensome regulation putting a stranglehold on business. Like the 70 year pre-funding pension requirement of the independently run USPS.
