I haven't been to Mapquest in a long, long time. Not since I first saw Google Maps as a matter of fact. Maybe I should check it out again.

They should, me thinks. Mapquest iphone app is what I use when driving to unfamiliar places. I hate how the default iphone map app doesn't give spoken directions. Mapquest does. And it's free.

I occasionally look at the mapping blogs to see what is new, and apparently Mapquest's latest feature is that you can set it so it won't tell you how to get out of your neighbourhood. Really, so you don't have to skip the first few steps in the directions is the latest selling point?

I still use MapQuest pretty often. Its just old habit, directions = MapQuest.

The fark it is. Google Maps went haywire on my phone a few weeks ago and I installed the mapquest app as a panacea. Worst phone driving experience ever. Vital information was next to impossible to find at a glance, and no, I don't care where the nearest Holiday Inn is located.

This is why I use Google Maps on my phone rather than my old Magellan. Magellan needs addresses; Google can handle landmarks.

I use as many non-google services as possible, and mapquest works fine.

Let's say I need to get to 123 xyz street. I search for the address. First hit in google is a tiny google maps of the location. Awesome. Click the image and google maps loads. Press the "get directions" button and I get directions to that address from my house (default location).

Easy peasey livin' greesy.

butt-nuggets: bing sucks, in more way than one.

Bing does have the 3/4 view, which I find extremely useful. But other than that, Google maps is about the only time I still use Google.

The birds eye view on Bing is pretty awesome, with 4 different angles from overhead. We used it and Google streets view quite a bit while looking for a new house. Saved us tons of time, cutting houses from our list upon seeing the neighborhood and other near-by buildings without needing to do it all in person.

Bing seems to have a new street view thing going on, and it looks pretty awesome now that I'm playing with it, I like the way it navigates and scrolls a LOT more than Google streets view, looks like they did some sort of 3D mapping or something
But... limited in coverage, only main roads and highways in some areas. I can't recall a time when Google's street view was missing a location I wanted to see.

I hope either Bing continues to expand their street view to cover more roads OR it lights a fire under Google to improve theirs

How dare anybody suggest a direct link to a "BUY NOW" page is spam.

If ya need to find a street that's only been there 6 months or less, MapQuest will usually have it.

A few years ago Google started using a cheaper map data provider, the newer one seems to miss a lot of things like new streets in new subdivisions.

Bing has aerial photography which is a lot better then Goggle's satellite view.

I still use google for most things, but I'd use Bing if I could set it up to work with keyword searches in Firefox.

Google maps definitely has tons of mistakes. Like roads that appear continuous but have a break.

Plus they've never made it possible to just do a no-hassle print of the farking map. How hard is that? No I don't want formatted directions, I don't want some half-cut off bullshiat, I want what's on the screen. These guys are supposed to be programming geniuses and they can't do this? So you either have to fark around with preview and see what gets cut off, or you do a screen cap and paste and crop it yourself. So stupid.

Why would I want a print, you say, why not just use a GPS or my phone or blah blah blah? Because a simple sheet of paper is farking 8 times the area of a phone or GPS, and it's a lot easier to just pick up and glance at for the 2 turns I need to make than trying to drive and pinch and zoom and rotate a phone that maybe lost signal and can't load the map right when I need it. GPS not so bad to use, but somebody stole my last one and busted the window getting it so fark that.

I stopped using MapQuest ages ago. I swear it was sponsored by each states transportation authority to make you drive on every toll road possible regardless if it took longer.
