The judge was visibly annoyed with being lied to and said he wants Zimmerman back in court to explain himself. Revoking the bond is just his way of letting Zimmerman know just how seriously he screwed up. When it's all said and done in a few days, Zimmerman will walk out of court a free man. Probably with a serious ass chewing and a higher bond.

or, you know, the judge leaves him in lockup for the duration. don't lie to a judge...they get cranky about things like that.

The trial isn't scheduled to begin until next year. The judge isn't going to punish him that severely.

Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda told the judge today that "this court was led to believe that they didn't have a single penny" at the earlier bond hearing.

Zimmerman's wife "flat out lied to this court," de la Rionda said. Lester agreed, revoking Zimmerman's bond. He must turn himself in, the judge said.

Hmmm... Will his wife be facing perjury or obstruction charges?

High profile case - the judge could easily decide that he wants Zimmerman around for the duration and put him in lockup.

Oh and before somebody mentions it, the judge also ruled that the second passport was a non-issue and wrote it off as being a case of finding a previously lost document after requesting a replacement.

There's nothing to indicate that Zimmerman is a flight risk. The judge pretty much said so when he ruled the second passport irrelevant.

except that the judge clearly feels Zimmerman is a liar, so that's reason enough to want to make sure you know where he's at at all times.

All we know is the judge wants him in court to explain why he didn't disclose the money he had collected online.

I'm not white-knighting anybody. Zimmerman clearly isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, that doesn't make him a murderer.

We also know that the judge said Zimmerman's can't make the "Potted Plant Defense". The judge was not happy that Zimmerman didn't speak up when his wife said they had no money. He was not happy being lied to about the PayPal account that had more than $155,000 at the time of the bond hearing. It's well documented they lied. They didn't make a mistake - they lied.

If the judge does decide to be that harsh (or gets leaned on by the DA), I wouldn't be surprised if Zimmerman exercised his right to a speedy trial. Which is why it's unlikely that they'll throw him in lockup, this case is too politically charged right now, any verdict would have a big impact in November, and no one wants to deal with that.

Well, according to his attorney, who wants statements Zimmerman made to the police that were "inconsistent with physical evidence and witness testimony" struck, I dunno, man.

Yep. And probably when he found out about the amount of $ that had been collected (I doubt he was getting hourly updates while awaiting his bail hearing, but you have to assume that someone told him).

The one thing he did right was to tell his lawyer and have him take control of the account (if previous news reports are correct).

The question I have is why did it take this long for the judge to decide to call for a hearing on it (IIRC, it was originally considered to be an honest mistake and since it was disclosed as soon as it was ID'ed by his attorney, a relative non-issue... what changed?)? That said, I'd definitely be having words with the wife if she knew of it during the hearing (which is what it sounds like).

Give it up, trolls. Zimmerman isn't going to flea the country with all the donated money and take you with him to have gay troll account sex on a tropical island.

However, the judge may be concerned that Zimmerman might take his WIFE to a tropical island with that chunk of change.

He's out. The shelf life expired sometime in late April. He'll probably be big in Japan in a few years. Maybe Germany.
