| Nadie_AZ I love it that Ken Bennett, the idiot Secretary of State said that he would not look into getting information on Romney's birth certificate (even with all those requesting it) because ... wait for it: Romney's release is sufficient, Bennett said, unless he hears otherwise from local law enforcement. "I don't think the skeptics for either side are going to be appeased no matter what I do," Bennett said. "If a law-enforcement agency released findings suggesting there was questions about the validity of the Romney certificate, it would make it the same situation (as with Obama), and I'd have to deal with it at that time." That's right. If Sheriff Joke doesn't care, he doesn't care. Really. That's it: Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett has not made inquiries into presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's birthplace, despite numerous requests from the public. Bennett this week said he will only inquire into Romney's birthplace if an Arizona law-enforcement agency releases findings that doubt the authenticity of Romney's birth certificate. Bennett said he only looked into President Barack Obama's birthplace after Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio questioned it. As for this idiot. Korwin -- who claims to be a former board member for Arizona's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists -- says the investigations like that of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Cold Case Posse "is not a conspiracy theory, it is research." |

| themindiswatching Psuedo-conservatives: whiny pussies. |

| mrshowrules I prefer the less inflammatory term: "pro-racial intolerance, developmentally delayed Southerner with advanced paranoia abilities". PUDDSAPA for short. |

| I_Am_Weasel Fine. We'll call you a Derpther. |

As John Mulaney said, if you're comparing the offensiveness of two words, and you're not even using one of the words, that's the worse word. |

| jake_lex LordJiro: Oh for farks sake, are ALL Republicans whiny shiatstains? It's not just that they're racist scumbags, they're whiny racist scumbags with a persecution complex. I want Obama to win the election, and for the Democrats to retake control of both houses of Congress, just because the Republican Party in its current state does not deserve to hold any sort of political power. |

I'm working on a TL;DR open letter to this moran, where the first letter in each paragraph will spell out "shut the fark up, racist" or some variant (minus the wordfilter, of course). Anyone got requests for what it should REALLY be?? |

This is like the Godwin's Law of self-victimization. If a non-black person is associating himself with the plight of black oppression, any chance of rational discourse has officially gone out of the window. |

Oddly enough, it's a word applied to those who don't like "n words". |

"'Birther,' used by the media with impunity, is a derogatory slur, the equivalent of the 'N' word used for another group to cast them as sub-human," Korwin writes. "You apply this new 'N' word to a huge group of politically-active Americans who've raised legitimate questions on a legitimate topic." Sure it's legitimate, jackass. |

So, back to "retards", then? |
||
| Type_Hard At first I thought this guy was an idiot, but then I ran across this WND headline: Barack Obama's a 'birther'! |

While I'm not technically a birthplace-skeptic-American I do sometimes playfully use the word (only in private with my other non-birthplace-skeptic friends) but certainly not with the hateful and harsh sounding -er ending. Just append an -a sound onto the word and you veer safely out of bigot territory. "Dude is a straight birtha, yo!! Where all my birthas at?!" |

It may, MAY have been sorta legitimate before the COLB was released. But when that was released, and when the newspaper clippings surfaced, there was no room for reasonable doubt. The only people clinging to this bullshiat conspiracy theory are racists who cannot accept that a black man with a "foreign" name is a Real American, and the President of the United States. |
||
| Gergesa God I hate this mealy mouthed "legitimate concerns" and "legitimate questions" nonsense when they really mean to say "he's black!!!! He is a non anglo saxon name!!! Oh lordy lordy the colored folk are being uppity!!!" |

"You apply this new 'N' word to a huge group of politically-active Americans who've raised legitimate questions on a legitimate topic." Even the nuts at WND disproved this crazy theory: A prominent Pennsylvania Democrat has sued Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission, claiming that Obama is not a natural-born citizen and, therefore, is not eligible to be president of the United States. However, a WND investigation has found that at least part of Berg's lawsuit relies on discredited claims. In short, the suit claims Obama was not born an American citizen; lost any hypothetical American citizenship he had as a child (Editor's note: This point is not supported by U.S. citizenship law); may not now be an American citizen and even if he is, may hold dual citizenships with other countries. However, FactChecker.org says it obtained Obama's actual birth certificate and that the document was indeed real. The site discredited some of the claims of Internet bloggers, such as that the certificate as viewed in a scanned copy released by Obama's campaign lacked a raised seal. FactChecker.org also established that many of the alleged flaws in the document noted by bloggers were caused by the scanning of the document. A separate WND investigation into Obama's birth certificate utilizing forgery experts also found the document to be authentic. The investigation also revealed methods used by some of the bloggers to determine the document was fake involved forgeries, in that a few bloggers added text and images to the certificate scan that weren't originally there. http://web.archive.org/web/2008082802 5212/http://www.worldnetdaily.co m /index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=73214 |

I'm most annoyed by the article implying that birther = skeptic. A skeptic is a person who is doubtful of a claim or stated knowledge without evidence to support it. Once evidence starts piling up, a skeptic adjusts their position. Birthers do not. They start with a default position (or just start "asking questions"), and then indulge in various forms of confirmation bias to avoid changing their position. With all of the evidence available, there is no reasonable examination that leads to "he's not eligible to be president because he wasn't born here". |
