As an ethnic Prussian, I take umbrage at this shoddy journalism and the jab by subby at my people. Who is in charge of the Sanatoga Post? Some things need shoring up. Ordnung muss sein! |

Wow, there's a place called King of Prussia. I like that name, you should make it your capital. |

I'm on it. There's nothing a little a hard work can't do for a displaced population. |

This is what happens when you make something illegal that lots of people want to do. The few places that keep it legal are able to rake in enormous opportunities from the free market. If surrounding states would legalize gambling, PA wouldn't be able to compete with such high taxes. |

Wangiss: As an ethnic Prussian, I take umbrage at this shoddy journalism and the jab by subby at my people AS an ethnic Prussian, I'd take umbrage that your rulers were so inept they lost their Empire to the British and French. Sounds like your ethnic group might be more than a little unter, cause, damn - even a peacenik coolie diaper-boy beat the British. |

Delaware Park race track is within an hour's drive from King of Prussia, AC is 90 minutes away. There are plenty of places for people to excercise their arm pulling muscles. This is just the state of PA being greedy. |

I worked at Soaring Eagle Casino in Michigan while I was in college. It was a great job for a college student. I took a serious pay cut getting my first "real" job. I have absolutely no sympathy for gamblers. |

If you win another million you shake hands with an industrial sewing machine. Maybe you should enjoy your losses, buy some drinks, and go home alive. |

That makes no sense. Slots pay back, on average around here, ninety seven to ninety eight cents on the dollar. They have to be taking a percentage of the profits, not the gross. Who would play slots that pay back such a small percentage? You gotta have winners to lure in the losers... |

"ethnic Prussian" hmmm...? so you are the member of this, believed to be extinct tribe, and speak the language, right? Not sure why you show off with German in this case though... |

Why do you care who gets it, if you are going to throw away money by playing the slots |

Surely you aren't suggesting that a fine American journalist would from the Sanatoga Post would not have taken the time to investigate and clarify this. |

I thought Prussia was integrated into the North German Confederation after the Austro-Prussian war of 1866! |

DjangoStonereaver: This is just the state of PA being greedy. Most people have no idea the amount of corruption that goes on in PA. My sources tell me the feds are pissed and don't want anything more to do with the state. |

That's "King of Prussia" to you, subby. Oddly enough, I walked through this place three weeks ago. It appeared to have just opened. And I agree, the tax has GOT to be a percentage of margin, not gross. Otherwise there would be no return business. |
||
| jrl it's a confused author problem, but it is 55% of the profits. "Gross revenues", as used in the article, has to be taken to mean "money taken out of the machines", and it's only "gross" at that point because they haven't subtracted out operating expenses. Payouts are already subtracted, so they don't get counted as revenues. |
