The phone is used by the GOP for phone-bank purposes, including recent phone banks for the Tuesday recall.

well that certainly looks bad.

So.. some calls went out, telling people that if they signed the recall petition, they'd already voted? The article doesn't seem to be explaining it well.

False flag operation or legitimate idiocy on the GOP part? Seriously, is the GOP really dumb enough to use a number registered to one of their call banks in order to do this. I just can't see someone being that dumb.

Butthurt forever?

Walker actually won by a larger margin than he did in 2010. This whole thing has actually made him more popular in WI?

Exit polls show that Obama would take the state right now meaning that a large number of Obama supporters actually voted for Walker and against the Unions.

Who in the union is responsible for completely misjudging the WI voters? This thing wasn't even close and they unions have dumped a ton of money into this fight. Everyone is tired of this and obviously backs Walker so give it a rest.

Probably just getting lazy since they know they'll get away with it. Look at that shiathead clerk in Waukesha. Wisconsin Republicans know they can blatantly cheat, and they'll never be called on it.

All I know is that if one of the GOP's main critiques of Obama is that he is divisive, and their golden boy in Wisconsin is so divisive they had to have a recall election, maybe they should stop farking that chicken.

Of course, for some reason, all of those phone calls were made to people directly working for the local Democrats, and not independents or Republicans.

And Democrats would never make this up. You know, because Wisconsin Democrat political types are all so squeaky-clean.

I have a fun idea: let's see their phone records! You know, to see if they actually received phone calls from that number when they said they did.

Yes, let's all just ignore election fraud.

This isn't about changing the outcome. It's about prosecuting assholes who seek to disenfranchise voters. It should be dealt with harshly, regardless of whether or not it affected the race.

Just stop it man. People are tired of the excuses. You guys started this recall mess and the voters stomped you. Maybe you should try to work with the government there instead of spending 30+ million trying to run the guy out. Now you got a guy that hates the unions more than ever in office.

Keep up the good work morons!

Yes, because if any kind of illegal activity that surpressed voters did happen, lord knows it doesn't matter. Just require ID everywhere and these things wouldn't happen right?

You do know that Walker wasn't the only target of the recall, right?

Lehman is leading Wanggaard by 800 votes. The Democrats might wind up with control of the Wisconsin senate. If they do, then Walker's power will be substantially limited.

The original goal of the recall was to replace GOP senators who violated Wisconsin law by pushing legislation through in closed meeting. Targeting Walker was just a bonus - and he had to fight his ass off and spend a shiatload of cash just to stay in office.

Obama is not a liberal, you cretin. And it wasn't liberals who support Citizens United. Liberals are the ones saying big money needs to get the hell OUT of politics in general.

But you're a good little shill, so you eat up every scrap of garbage Fox and the RNC feed you. I bet you think Obama's "socialist", don't you? Or that Europe's problem is that they haven't had ENOUGH austerity?

In her letter to the GAB, Taylor said that the calls regarding the petition signatures came from a Madison-area phone number. A call placed to that number came back with a voicemail saying the caller had reached the Wisconsin Republican Party.

GAB spokesman Reid Magney said that the agency has received Taylor's complaint, and that it is similar to ones received during every election in the state. He said the agency is aware of the calls but does not have plans to investigate them at this time. He said that if the origin of the calls is provided to the board, an investigation may be started. He believes voters will not believe the false information, said Magney.

It would appear that she told them the origin of the calls. Hypothetical voter ID fraud warrants laws that require photo ID, but proven voter fraud doesn't even warrant reading the whole complaint someone mails you.

if by "special interest," you mean "largely small-sum donations from individuals," then yes.

on the other hand, the koch brothers and karl rove have pledged to spend ONE BILLION dollars themselves alone to elect romney and other republicans this november.

Walker spent the $30 million, mostly from out-of-state donors. Barrett spent $4 million.

Yeah, but the state senate doesn't meet again until November, at which at least half of the democratic seats are up for election. So, largely a symbolic victory

I love how people focus on the Union spending. Yes, that was the thing to be concerned about.

Not Walker's several-times-larger budget, 65% of which was from out of state. Nope.

See, out-of-state union money is processed Communism and is literally made from dead babies. But out-of-state corporate money is the essence of Democracy and American Values, and every dollar was blessed by the patriotic tear of a bald eagle.

They had to have a recall election because liberals forget that they sometimes lose elections, they wanted a mulligan and sliced it yet again. If you looked at exit polling, even the democrats voting.felt recalls should be used in corruption or gross misconduct. Not policy disagreement. Liberals attempted to use the recall as a political tool, that is why the lost by even larger margins. The people are tired of the bullshiat political games.

Yes.

Does this actually effect the election? Probably not, just symptomatic of the sleazy tactics used. They won by entirely legal sleaze, but also decided to go that extra mile just in case.
