Course not.

Cornerbacks cover the wide receivers.

"You just want to be one of the guys, and you don't want to lose that sense of family," Davis said in an interview with outsports.com. With a distant look in his eyes, Davis slowly added "It's strange though... I definitely wasn't gay before playing in the European league..."

Funny there's no picture of Davis but there's Tebow off to the side. If Tim weren't so over-exposed, someone who doesn't follow football would think he had just come out.

Damn. I'm too drunk to come up with a joke about tight ends. Someone else is going to have to do it.

Yes. North American men's football, basketball, baseball, and hockey? No.

Players and owners. By that standard, Rock Hudson was "out" as well.

He didn't hide it in public or anywhere. He hung out in gay bars and with other openly gay people. I guess he didn't scream it out on television like today's standard, I guess.

I don't really care one way or the other but can't one easily interpret much of the NFL's rituals as homo erotic? The quarterback squatting behind the center accepting a ball passed through his legs while wearing skin tight pants? The butt slapping and the huddles? If gay people had tried to invent a sport of their own it would probably not be that "gay". NTTAWWT

Oh my...is that why every lockroom he was in blew up in rainbows and every play that he was on the field broke out into a song and dance routine?

No? So who cares either way but the most boneheaded? Oh wait...this is the NFL.

/not 'teh ghey' and don't care if you are
//still loves me some football
//I bet the percentage of 'ball-handlers' in the NFL is greater than the national average. No data to back that up of course..but just have the feeling that after decades of showering and towel-snapping with ripped dudes will do that to guys 'on the fence'. :)

He married his agent's secretary, in public. Having a sham wedding then wearing a "beard" so that the "don't scream it out on television" contingnet doesn't discover who you're actually porking is the very definition of "in the closet". Are you old enough to remember America's collective gasp when the news broke that Rock was queer?

My guess is that if no gay men played sports, we'd have a lot less of a talent pool.

Who cares who you bang as long as it's not little kids or animals and it's consentual (kind of redundant in those cases, but I'm trying to at least mitigate someone correcting me later)?

Probably not. They're a vocal, but very small, minority.

/If they were not allowed, we might eventually have less of a talent pool as people with ties to gay people might not play out of protest

FTA: "Wade Davis, who played in college at Weber State and spent the 2000 and 2002 preseasons"

So. . . he wasn't an NFL player then? He just played the preseason and got cut?

I'm glad we're all accepting about this on the sports tab (further proving my point that we are the very coolest tab on fark), but you guys know that "taking it up the ass" is not the only thing that makes one gay, right? I mean.... there's a bit more to it than that, aye?

I don't get why subby thinks he wouldn't want to play the slot because he is gay. Wouldn't him being gay make him pretty comfortable playing the slot?

From nfl.com: Wade Davis tells an NFL story that, in many ways, is no different than that of thousands of other undrafted players struggling to make a team. Despite stints with the Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks, the former defensive back never found his way onto a 53-man roster.

It's a bit of a stretch to call this guy a NFL player. I mean, yeah, he did play in some preseason NFL games. So technically it's correct to say he was an NFL player. But he never actually made a team.
