3000 for each plant? Cop math strikes again. |
||
| karmaceutical That is... not a bad idea at all. I wonder if one of those lunatic "prepper" companies was contracted to help install this structure. |
||
| Balchinian
MythDragon: Did the cops destroy all 78 plants? Yes, all 33 plants were destroyed, except for the 12 necessary for evidentiary purposes. |
||
| Evil Mackerel
Only 50 plants?Not that much of a haul. |

So, 4 dime bags, then? |

Gotta say-- this is one of the smarter operations I've heard about. Much better than a guy that grows in his backyard and wonders why he got caught. |

wow, I'll sure sleep safe tonight. farking pigs. |

wrenchboy: 3000 for each plant? Cop math strikes again. Check the details link; from the size of those plants, $3K each might not be out of line. /legalize the shiat already, your war on this soft drug is hypocritical and not in the public's or nation's best interests. |

wrenchboy: 3000 for each plant? Cop math strikes again. Yep. Most indoor plants yield about a quarter pound of buds so about $500 per plant would be a closer estimate for a grow operation of this size. |

Doesn't top that one in Canada, but not bad for FL. Wasn't there like 16 cargo containers underground in Vancouver or something. |
||
| ddelorm
Just realized what to do with all those cold war bunkers and tornado basements. |
||
| KellyX
Hmm, pretty smart use for a cargo container... But no one noticed one hauled in to begin with, or the huge hole they must of dug for it? |
||
| Psycoholic_Slag
I saw a documentery on BC bud and they found one that had like twelve storage containers buried and connected with a state-of-the-art hydro system. Not new. |

You gotta love those infrared fly over tactics. Or a spike in someone's energy bill is cause for warrant. Just dig deeper, and find an external power supply next time. |

wrenchboy: 3000 for each plant? Cop math strikes again. I've seen 1+ pounder plants before. So, in this case, cop math might be on par with actual math. |

KellyX: Hmm, pretty smart use for a cargo container... But no one noticed one hauled in to begin with, or the huge hole they must of dug for it? Exactly. Or a ghetto bird with FLIR, or a "friend" who felt (or was) slighted or busted, or someone taking down plate numbers outside the hydro supply store, or... I remember a while back here on Fark there was a story about a great big natural cave that a house sat on, and the dumb*ss who had his grow in it got busted because he was stealing power. |

| MythDragon every god for himself: Gotta say-- this is one of the smarter operations I've heard about. Much better than a guy that grows in his backyard and wonders why he got caught. My first house was a rental, and had a big privacy fence. Had a nice garden. One day the ex-wife has a brilliant idea. "Hey, we can plant pot in the garden" 'Honey....no.' "Why not?" 'Because, it's illegal? And the landlord might notice, maybe?' "Well can't we just say we didn't know they were there?" 'I....I.....I'm going to work' "But today is Saturday." 'I don't care" |
||
| OldManDownDRoad
Pair-o-Dice: Detectives also found a quarter eighth of a pound of pot and a loaded firearm. fixed "Must be a mistake, sarge. The report says an H&K USP45f was found, but all they turned in was a Raven Arms .25" |

Man, collier county is always getting itself into fun messes. Underground man caves full of weed, stand your ground by stabbing a neck at the bus stop and, of course, Jenkem. I grew up there. I wonder if I would consider this stuff normal if I was still there? No, probably not. |
||
| KellyX
dogdaze: They found one of these in N. Fla too. How someone manages to dug a huge hole, drop a container in it and bury it w/o the neighbors noticing is beyond me. I imagine if I were to do something like that, I'd own property with a lot of land and get some cargo containers brought out. The cover story would be to turn them into power systems, put Solar Panels on-top and battery/converters in the container itself. Then have some chopped up and welded to make "larger" systems... Well, there'd be a history of doing this, why I dunno, maybe to say I'm selling them as mobile power systems for people to purchase (which in itself isn't a bad idea anyhow). Well, I've been buying them and chopping some, so who knows where what went, and I own a lot of land in the middle of no where, so I rent a backhoe and bury some as a test and build a barn large shelter over some and put the solar panels up there. I'd probably insulate the building well too, have something on the main floor to appear like that's the main function, all the while the lower floor in the containers would be where my evil crime lab would be growing pot (evil evil pot) to sell to people that want to relax, watchin some cartoons and eat funyuns. |

dumbass told 1 too many people about his secret bunker and that is what tripped him up.like any business its not always how good your product is but the people you have working for and around you. someone looking at a few years in the can probably snitched on the grower and the grower doesn't have a screw up and i'll kill you reputation. |

dogdaze: They found one of these in N. Fla too. How someone manages to dug a huge hole, drop a container in it and bury it w/o the neighbors noticing is beyond me. Well, I imagine it's been there for a while. If he was the first person to build in that area (ie before the neighbors arrived) then it could have been installed as part of construction process under the guise of a tornado/hurricane bunker. Or he just sidled up to the neighbors and said: "Dude, I'm going to have a backhoe and a crane in here next weekend. Have a hit on this. So perhaps you might want to go to the beach to avoid the noise. Nice shiate, eh? A couple hours should do it. And there will be more of this to go around." |

ok... here we go: a quarter oz goes for about $25 here in this part of fla. 4 quarters make 1 oz A general rule of thumb, if your getting 2 ounces cured per plant your doing good. ( sometimes I'd get one that would do 3+) From link in article: So far this year CCSO Vice and Narcotics Bureau detectives have shut down nine marijuana grow operations in Collier County, making seven arrests and uncovering a total of 347 plants with a combined estimated street value of $1.035 million Deputies Shut Down Underground Marijuana Grow House In The Estates Collier County Sheriff's Office 347 plants 2 ounces cured per plant 347 x 2 = 694 ounces Each oz is worth about $100 100.00 x 694 = $694,000.00 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm |

I wonder if the guy could find a thick lead roof to slap over the top? Have you seen those pot houses cops film from the air using infrared? It's just a huge white light. Thank you farking patriot act. |

| karmaceutical I want to know where you are getting good indoor for $100 per ounce... for research. |
||
| bwilson27
We did that back in the 80's in Depoe Bay, Oregon. An old container laying on the neighbors property became our grow op under 3 feet of dirt out in the woods with the handy help of a backhoe. It was a sweet setup. |

Ridiculous that people have to go through such lengths to grow a simple harmless plant that makes you feel good. When will this insanity end? |

| Retractable Weeners
This is dumb. A pound a plant would require everything to be perfectly lit and ventilated, consuming over 100,000 watts and 700 amps for 100 plants. The containers alone for the rootballs of lb plants wouldn't fit in the storage container, let alone the plants themselves. The plants in the pics are maybe 3 - 4 oz each and 3, not 4' tall. So, "realistically" on the high side of estimations, 4 oz * 133 plants = 532 oz / 16 = 33.25 lbs max. And if they were doing that right, 1/3 of the plants would have been clones/moms, 1/3 would have been in veg, and 1/3 would have been budding. So divide that by 3, the container can produce 10 lb every 60 - 90 days. On average, with good weed they could pull in $10,000 a month - operating expenses. This is just what it says, a press release. "Here's what you should think." |
