Weird Al is in my top 5 concerts, along with Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, KISS and Rush. He puts on a great show, never slows down, is funny as Hell, and nails it with every song, no concessions where you think to yourself 'Yeah, but he's live, he just can't quite hit that without studio magic', or something like that.

The time I saw Weird Al was far better than Van Halen two weeks ago. What a disappointment THAT was...

I just listened to the entire thing and I loved it. It's a pretty nifty commentary on the evolution of pop music since the early 80's.

At a 2007 show I saw he did "Wanna B Ur Lover" and did a sexy dance, grinding up on a lady in the audience. She was about 80. Everyone had a good time. Especially Grandma.

His polkas are better than most of his parodies. This is a treat, a fun listen.

Been to a lot of concerts (I'm old)...by far the best, most professional, and entertaining was Weird Al. Took my kid last year. More than pleasantly surprised. All the multimedia eye candy worked perfectly, the band was incredible. Best of all, Al plopped his behind on the front step of his bus, and gladly signed/took pictures for probably an hour after the show. Class act.

I also have seen Weird Al live (and been to plenty of shows,) and he is f'n amazing. I've never heard a musician sing so in tune at a live show.

Just want to add my "His live shows are amazing" to the list. I've seen him twice, and it was one of the few concerts I really enjoyed the whole time.

Wife wants to bring the kids to a kid friendly concert (4 and 6) Typically this would mean some disney or nick jr backed show. I'd rather not deal with that. So, question for those in the know, think young kids would make it through a Weird Al show before going nuts?

Slip a little LSD into their Capri Suns and they'll enjoy the show.

Watched Weird Al perform live a couple of times. First, I was amazed at how fervent his fan base is; bands like Van Halen and U2 might have a wider range of casual fans, but everyone at a Weird Al concert is a true believer. (In a good way, though.)

Then I was amazed at how physically exhausting the show must have been. He dressed as a 300 pound Michael Jackson, the late Kurt Cobain, Prince in a purple suit, a pizza delivery guy, a Jedi, Mark Knopfler in a headband, a surgeon in scrubs, and a member of Devo in a plastic yellow jumpsuit. And others. In two hours. That's a hell of a lot of work for a man pushing fifty. If he needed a little extra time, he threw up some of his short films on the big screen, like Gandhi II and 40% Chance of Rain. Family friendly yes, and definitely worth the ticket price. (It IS a rock concert, though; you might want to consider earplugs for young 'uns.)

He's produced consistently good albums for his entire career, worked with more different kinds of music than anyone else with that many gold records, his band has had the same lineup for thirty years, and he may well be the only performer in the world who can send an audience into pandemonium by whipping out an accordion. That's all pretty rare for a rock band.

I once made a playlist of all the songs he's made parodies of. It's like a master class in the last 30 years of popular music trends.

Al rules. I have more albums from him than any three other groups.

I know he gets permission for all his parodies despite not technically needing it; does he need/get permission for all the songs in the polkas?

Man, I missed my chance for that. I got front row tix, but switched with my brother in law so I could sit next to my sister. So then Al comes down and puts his leg on the shoulder of the woman next to him.

He almost fell on me while stepping on chair arms and backs doing this last time i saw him. It would have been a concert-going highlight for me.

My obligation for today to make everyone feel as old as possible will take the form of reminding you that Al is well past the point of "pushing" 50.

Although I don't listen to his music as fervently as I used to, I agree with every bit of praise for his live act (four times) and generosity in meeting the fans.

I remember hearing some of these for the first time, and to this day I still remember blowing a mouthful of pizza out my mouth listening to the polka version of Nine Inch Nails singing "I want to fark you like an animal"

Al's story was the only standout on VH1's "Behind the Music". Everyone else rose and fell in exactly the same way. I'd work out the function but I'm too lazy and don't care.

that was AWESOME. didn't think i could get through it all, but god that was amazing. Such a good and clever musician. We need more people like him just having fun and giving the world a good time instead of musical sellouts like 90% of the radio plays.

I would also hazard a guess and say that not many bands have a following like Weird Al does. Nor are there many who deserve it
